After upgrading the EP8-RS motor, on my Orbea Rise, to the 4.1.9 firmware I actually see a difference in the responsiveness and battery usage. Maybe a placebo effect, but my strava times seem to show a pretty nice improvement after the update 🤷♂️
Can someone send the tuning specs of their Fox Float X that came with the Orbea Rise? For example, the Fox DPS that came with my Rise is : 2023_21, FLOAT DPS, P-S, A, 3pos, Evol LV, Orbea, Rise, 210, 55, 0.2 Spacer, LCL, LRM, CMF, No Logo.
Yea I didn't mean to make it sound like a longer shock made the rise ride like crap. If the shock I used to test it was tuned with a light compression it would have been much better. The progressive nature of the rise does not do good with air shocks that have a heavier compression tuning, or in...
I put a 8.5" x 2.5"(216mm x 63.5mm) Fox Float X CTD, from my old 2015 Yet Sb6. I was a bit suspect about the increase in travel from 140mm to 161mm. Seems that most on here just calculated the proportionality to figure this out, but after putting it on I can confirm that travel increased to...
It's from the ST Unlocked app, just included it so you can see firmware version and name. I don't use the app for anything other than viewing information. Oh and the screen shots are my settings not default settings.
So I got the motors' firmware flashed at a local Orbea dealer and this whole process left me with a bad taste in my mouth. The firmware issue was caused by the Shimano E-Tube app, I confirmed this with Shimano and Orbea. Orbea instructs me to go to a local dealer to have them flash the motor to...
Here is the latest response from Orbea:
"We have also been informed that Shimano's Software update is suffering some issues in some update cases and it is necessary to visit a dealer so that they can use the specific cable to be able to repair this.
We hope that the issue gets solved as soon...
Brought the bike to the Orbea dealer and had to leave it there. They are waiting for Orbea to email them the file to flash the firmware. Seems that only Orbea dealers have access to the RS firmware. I had to drive over 1 hr away to get to a Orbea dealer. What if someone didn't have one near...
Yes, it didn't work. I'm now not even able to connect to the motor at all. It used to just immediately try to reinstall the firmware, but now does not even see the bike to connect. Heading to the dealer in about 1 hr to have them flash it, fingers crossed! Told my boss I had to leave work early...
You would think that, it even says it in the Blue Paper (Manual) that comes with the bike that you can update the firmware with your phone and etube app, so why they're telling me now you can't is bonkers, all I know is the update rendered my rise motor useless.
I'm not sure, but this is what Orbea and the dealer told me. The dealer is reaching out to Shimano to find out exactly, but it does look like the updates through the etube app may not be RS versions, should find out soon what the deal is.
Here's a kicker, I just got a email from Orbea asking them the same question and this is what they responded:
"A dealer's login and special software is needed to complete the update."
Firmware updates for the Orbea Rise should NOT be done through the E-Tube app. It's supposed to be done only...
Yes!! This is what I was looking for. So I assume I can just unplug the wire coming from the motor that goes into the Shimano EW-EN100 Junction then plug it into the SMJC-41 then to the PCE02?
Thanks for this! I did look into this, but the SM-PCE02 does not have a E-tube port connector, so I think I have to drop the motor to plug it in. I've read somewhere that there is an adapter that can be plugged into the E-tube port wire that connects to the Shimano EW-EN100 Junction, which is...
I'm not sure? The only place the firmware update takes place is in the Shimano Etube App, so I can only assume that Shimano takes the RS version into consideration or else there would have been constant problems in the past with anyone updating the firmware. I'm waiting for Orbea to respond to...
Same thing just happened to me on my M20, updated firmware and it said it failed, then tries again and again but keeps failing. Etube app will not go any further. I can turn the bike on, change the mode and connect with my Garmin, but when you pedal there is no power. Is there a way to fix this...
