A strange thing happened during yesterday's ride:
I use a Garmin Edge 530, with the ebike sensor paired. It gives reading for ebike's battery (so I have a percentage on the screen, more usefull than the 5 bars on the dash of our bike) and also power mode indication.
Suddenly the Garmin pops up...
If the emtbs produce and output power as a % of rider's power input, then there has to be a sensor for that. A power meter of some sort. Otherwise how would the system know how much output to give ? 🤔
E+2 (625wh battery):
I'm about 74 kg, with all my gear on. Also there is a cushcore in the rear which adds rotating mass.
Maxterra compounds, DHF front, High Roller DD rear.
Yesterdays ride, at 11 degr Celcius, on dry trails:
51% battery consumption during a 29 kilometer ride, with 852 total...
Yes, I'm looking to buy a new whole wheel. But keep the existing cassette because the bike has only done about 300 kilometers so far.
Thinking about a DT Swiss HX1700. Hub options are : XD, Shimano, or Shimano 12-sp, so I guess the right choice is Shimano.
Hello everyone, happy new year !
Since I'm in to mtb for about a year, I have never had the need to deal with freehubs so far. Now I'm thinking to upgrade the rear wheel of my '22 Reign E+2 and I'm lost. If I have understood correctly :
- since the '22 model, +2 , uses a 12-speed SRAM...
Has anyone changed the cable of the droper post ?
The end cap on the lever went loose, as result the cable frayed and then it was impossible to pull it back to place without causing it to fray more and more.
Removed the seat post, took the cable out only to see that the cable housing is nested...
My E+2 does not sound much. I would say motor noise is more or less on the same levels as of my previous emtb, a Haibike AllMtn with the bosch gen4. But the Syndrive pro's noise has maybe a higher pitch, whereas the bosch motor had more "bass" in its noise, if that makes sense.
In my case it is not accurate. For example it shows 20-30 watts, while I'm pedaling hard uphill with the lowest assistance (on purpose, for work out). Or it shows 2,000 watts (lol) going downhill. .... Readings are all over the place ....
High temperatures (above 35 C) and mostly lack of time due to work, mean that I have only had the chance to do a couple of rides so far on my +2.
On the 2nd ride, at some point the Garmin Edge 530 beeps, I look at the screen and it reads "Wheel Size Calibrated".
I've used that headset multiple...
I have the impression that the power calibration option in varius garmin devices (like the edge 530, I have the same) works only with Garmin's own power pedals.
Today I was supposed to take delivery of my new Reign E+2. The LBS called to tell my the paint is scratched and off at the seat tube (see pic below).
I told them I'm not taking the bike for now, call Giant and see what they have to say.
What would you do guys if you were me?
LBS said we could...
Heads up for those of you who have decided to buy the bike and are postponing it:
Yesterday I paid a deposit for the +2, one of the last bikes available where I live (Greece). Price here is 5,700 euros and my LBS said they were told by the manufacturer that next batch of bikes will be +300 euros...
If someone has a garmin headset that can show "ebike" data fields such as power, then could that be used as a test to check what power the A mode gives you?
