Deciding on which bike is hard.

Lots of good bikes out there and great advice from R120, but for peace of mind go with something from a good local shop who know what they are doing. I've bought lots of regular bikes and gear online, but for the ebike purchase I went with the main Specialized dealer in town and got a Levo. I...

    2020 Levo Expert Ordered yesterday

Just let me know the day before with a PM through this site, I check in a couple of times a day. Then I can make sure the bike's charged up.

    2020 Levo Expert Ordered yesterday

Sounds good. I'm actually surprised at how few ebikes I've seen on the hills in the last six months, maybe I'm riding at the wrong time! Hope the CAP team can work out a solution for using the chairlift, it would allow extra runs in a session, at the moment climbing from the carpark uses up...

    2020 Levo Expert Ordered yesterday

I I live five minutes from the bottom of Rapaki, so keen pretty much any time as I don't get much chat from regular riders going up there.

    2020 Levo Expert Ordered yesterday

Be good to see some more Levo's going up Rapaki, and new tracks under the trees in the Adventure Park will give some new options for getting down again. Just need to get a 700wh battery for more range.

Zero Experience - Researching My First eMTB

Don't underestimate the importance of a good shop when you buy an ebike - my Levo Comp has needed a few fixes and they have all been sorted out immediately with no questions asked. If a shop gives you a "can't be bothered" attitude, they will care even less for sorting out any warranty hassle...

    Ebikes and keeping HR down

I have an irregular heart beat with episodes of heart failure and the ebike (Levo) has literally been a life saver. I can keep my HR steady on climbs and as Gary noted am more likely to get a spike in HR on a long fast descent. I've noticed my fitness improve gradually, with far more stable...

    Arggghhhh... Dilemma

I'm the same height with long arms and the '19 XL Levo fits me perfectly with a 50mm stem, 800x38mm bar and seat back on the rails. Might be worth waiting to see if the new '20 Levo models come with bigger batteries or other improvements, of the bikes out now the Commencal appeals to me if I...

    Tall Guy from Canada

That size should be fine. I'm 6'5" with a 36 inseam and long arms and the XL Levo fits me perfectly with a 50mm stem, a 38mm rise x 800mm wide bar and the seat almost fully back on the rails.

    Specialized Turbo Levo Comp FSR

I doubt your LBS would be willing to help if you don't buy the bike from them, and if they did it would cost you in labour at least. My Levo Comp has had both the motor (noise) and charger (died) replaced, and had the engine cover mods all done for free. Maybe just tell the LBS you want to...

It's been a decade since I last rode a bike

The black frame protector shouldn't be like that on a new bike, so I'd see if the shop can get a new piece in to replace it.

    Dialing in from NZ

Welcome aboard Rod, totally agree about the new riding ebikes open up. Used to live in Wellington, spent a lot of time round Makara, Hawkins Hill and Mt Vic tracks, look forward to getting back there sometime.

    Big guy....big bike?

Range wise you can expect anything from 30-50km depending on the climbing. I've done 35k rides with 880m of uphill (some in Turbo for really steep pitches) and used 95%, and then other rides on flatter tracks only use 60% for the same distance. Looking to get a 700wh battery as soon as i can.

    Big guy....big bike?

Yeah, I pretty much always take the "mortgage line", can't afford a crash.

    Big guy....big bike?

Sounds like you'll be fine on the Levo. I'm 6'5" and 120kg and my 19 Comp Levo is perfect for the trail riding I do, reasonably quick but no major jumps or tricks. I was concerned about the 28 spoke wheels on the bike (i've had 36 spokes back wheels built on previous bikes) but after five...

    EMTBs are amazing

A year ago I was in an acute cardiology ward with an elevated irregular heart rate (140 lying on my back) from a heart in failure only pumping at 25% capacity. Not a good place to be at 46! A massive change in medication helped me recover slowly but my fitness really only improved when I got my...

    Hi from Christchurch, New Zealand

It was only a carpark test and it felt like it looks, very solid. The power was more on/off than the Levo and the Bosch hum was always there, but neither were too bad. Overall its a good value as well, but I couldn't help thinking it was the end of the line for the Bosch CX, and given I'm...

    Hi from Christchurch, New Zealand

Hi Brian, Good to hear from another clydesdale rider, not that many of us around! I'm finding the Levo really nice, the handling and fit are dialled and the air suspension is more than capable of carrying the load. I currently run 100psi in the Revelations and 250psi in the rear shock, neither...

    Hi from Christchurch, New Zealand

Just got word that my noisy motor is being replaced under warranty and the new foam insert will be put in at the same time. By the end of the month I should have the 700wh battery as well, so I'll be all set for some epic (and quiet) days of riding.
