Giant talon e 2017 speed unlock

I don't know about the best, but some people opt for PLANET3 and they're happy with the compromise. I say compromise because on Giant e-bikes the ratio limits the speed increase to 50% (1.5:1 ratio) because of safety concerns that came with Giant's 2023 firmware update and the dreaded 6A error...

    Random Levo Gen4 Derestriction chat

I'd suggest removing it. You simply never know with a new update. Almost all the chips are (or should be) made to simply forward any CAN communication that are not the messages of interest (such as rear wheel speed). However, a manufacturer can implement "handshake" messages that might stand out...

    Random Levo Gen4 Derestriction chat

I believe Class 3 mode on the Levo Gen4 is a) only available for US region and b) even with 28 mph limit the power available is only 50% of the total output the motor is capable of. So, you've still got most of the world that sticks to EU/UK limits of 25 km/h (15.5 mph) instead of the regular 20...

    Random Levo Gen4 Derestriction chat

Hey @DylanJM, unfortunately I don't have anything new to report. I've got the PLANET3-E working with the Levo Gen4 (but with older Gen3 connectors spliced into the original wiring) and then I had to bench it due to a couple of reasons. Main one is that my "temporary" electronics guy kinda...

I created a purely mechanical Turbo Levo speed limit increase

In that case, you don't need the silicone spray either. :) Leave it dry and it should be all good. Main concern with the desert is heat. I don't know what the material spec is, but hopefully it's not PLA since it's prone to melting at those temperatures - especially if you leave the bike in a...

I created a purely mechanical Turbo Levo speed limit increase

I don't know if lithium grease is a good idea. If the base of the grease and the plastic compound don't play well with each other, the grease might swell and disintegrate the plastic over time. Since both the PLANET3 and any copycat device basically run on the same principle i.e. it doesn't...

I created a purely mechanical Turbo Levo speed limit increase

Then it's more likely to be OK. However, note the conical head screws that will tighten onto plastic. Plastic will go into creep over time and the screws will loosen, you have to use threadlocker but even then it won't really work long-term because there's no proper preload on the bolt. I'd much...

I created a purely mechanical Turbo Levo speed limit increase

On Gen3 the speed sensor is in a hole located in the dropout area of the braking side of the rear triangle, so it's "obstructed" by the part of the frame between the sensor and the magnet - compared to the Gen2 where it sat in an sensor carrier that had a partial cutout on the side facing the...

    Levo Gen4 derestriction with PLANET3

For Gen4 the answer is - I don't know yet. On Gen2/Gen3 they're all pretty much the same - if you can get access to CAN messages between the display/motor/speed sensor and simply modify the value of speed given to the motor to stay below the limit (~80% of the speed limit is what most chip...

    Levo Gen4 derestriction with PLANET3

Well, not really (yet).. :) This was more of a FYI in regards to limitations because other providers of a similar service/device don't seem to want to be transparent with users in regards to limitations of the mechanical derestriction devices. 👀

    Levo Gen4 derestriction with PLANET3

Hi all, I've been waiting until I got my personal bike (Gen4 Comp Carbon) to test and make a post regarding the PLANET3 and Levo Gen4. After testing this weekend here are some findings in order of importance.. Specialized has finally gone the route of Giant/Shimano/Bosch and the new system is...

Levo, Garmin, Planet 3 derestricting not working

Sorry for the late reply, but maybe you asked via email and it was solved in the meantime - this reply is more for posterity or anyone else Googling around. The way to solve the Garmin/Wahoo speed reading problems using the speed sensor from the bike (when the device is paired via BT/ANT+) is to...

    What's a reasonable price for a Levo Gen4? :ROFLMAO:

Anybody bought the speedi planetary magnet?

Thank you :) Yes, there is and rather soon. I mean, the chip already works but I'm solving the connector problem. I've hit some "snags" with machining of the molds for these but I'm hoping that the wire EDM machine is going to get fixed soon as it's already been delayed by ~2 months because of...

    Giant Yamaha PW-X3 tuning

PLANET3 still works with almost all Giant e-bikes that are physically compatible (hub and spacing) and since you guys are mostly OK with ~35 km/h as the speed limit, then the 38 km/h that the dual planet configuration of the PLANET3 for Giant provides should be sufficient. One user tried riding...

Anybody bought the speedi planetary magnet?

Yep, that'd be me and my replies a couple of posts above. In fact, I never ever started selling them them for Bosch. I tested a PLANET3 with a 1,5:1 ratio on a Mondraker Crafty RR and I believe I was the first person to have their hands on that bike (EU wide) as it was before official release...

    Volspeeed 3 on Yamaha pw-st

Hello guys, I don't know about the GASGAS directly, but we've derestricted plenty of Yamaha powered e-bikes using a PLANET3. Even ones that featured a spoke magnet and the sensor on the chainstay can be done if the sensor is relocated to the rear dropout and if the hub end cap geometry is...

Anybody bought the speedi planetary magnet?

Yep, 2 different products. 3:1 is PLANET3, 1.5:1 is Speedi. Agreed on the jumping, that and starting from a stoplight followed by a truck going into something tight with a wall on the side (underpass) are the two most common nightmares with a restricted bike (at least for me).
