Pitfichie has about 50% trails open, the orange and black DH on Pitfichie hill all flattened under hundreds trees. Same with badgers box and squirrel,

The bolt shouldnt be getting any wear, I have never had shock bolt wear on other suspension bikes. The rotation and wear should occur between the shock eyelet bushing and the sleeve/tube the bolt goes through.

I reckoned the excessive wear near bolt head happened AFTER the bolt snapped because I didn’t notice until end of ride that there was play in system,

I replaced all pivot bearings before Christmas. A year after last replacement.
They were moving freely.
And fitted new shock mountain hardware.
And new bolts, loctite the new bolts in place and after a few rides, checked bolt and it was getting wear...refitted and loctite again.
Agree - ive bought replacement bolt so couple times, from Focus dealer shops in Scotland (Ballater and Boat of Garten)
One thing I have noticed is the bolts are getting a lot of wear so the suspension isn’t working properly, the rotation should occur between shock bushing and mounting hardware...
Thanks for posting summary Steve, I replaced bearings again a few weeks ago, one year on. But forgot to look back at this post and got the single Row 63801 bearings again....doh... pasted the above post into my notes now!
I’ve got a lot of rattling going on , my Sam2, when riding down rough trails, And did the checks above Andy can’t find any pivots or joints at fault, I think it’s coming from motor, internally.
Cranks have no play, and BB play doesn’t seem worse than it was new
I often lift the rear wheel off bike off ground, with one hand holding at base of dropper post and drop the wheel on ground still with hand holding bike, and you can usually feel a jolt if something loose.
And then To identify which bearings/pivot might be worn keep both wheels of bike on...

Sealed cartridge bearings in the new hub have got to be better than the loose ball bearings and poor seals in the old one
CHeck the tension barrel adjuster where it goes into dropper lever on bars. Mine kept unwinding and making seat drop. I have since wound tape around it to prevent this
I replace the freehub and axle with a cartridge bearing system from novatech.
When my bearings went graunchy after 3000km.Can’t stand loose bearing freehubs.
