No, the cassettes were placed over the free hub splines, the Deore cassette drops onto the free hub base, the SLX cassette stops short and hits the wheel.
Resolved: The spoke guard was too large for the smaller cassette and prevented the cassette from seating correctly on the free hub body.
Hi everyone,
I was going to make a change to my gearing today and also prepare the bike for the oncoming wet weather. The plan was to swap out the Deore 12sp...
I feel your pain my Cornish brother. I live in a microclimate area of unusually miserable weather, with muzzle most of the winter.
I'd love a proper seasonal winter with some cold dry and sunny days to be able to cross the moors and actually enjoy it.
I have now put close to 500miles on my bike and can comfortably say that a limit of 15.5mph, is not really enough for a commute. 20mph would be a significant increase and knock 16 minutes off of my journey time.
for others thinking of trying to forgoe their cars, the current UK speed restriction...
Something that many would do well to understand, I feel.
Anyway, the "mizzle" is lifting and I might take my bike to work instead of the van, so need to get cracking.
Enjoy your Sunday riding, wherever you may be. (y)
I know that this is an old thread, but it's still relevant, perhaps more so today, anyway I swapped out the Bontrager XR3s after day one, to fit WTB "ThickSlicks".
They're a fairly narrow 2.1", offer little rolling resistance and have to be more efficient than the original fit.
My bike is a 2022...
So many variables, but the most important ones to take into consideration are total bike and rider weight, tyre size and ride surface. Lightweight bike and rider combos can totally run on 20psi, but this would be with larger volume tyres. Loose and dry trails could give any setup a sense of...
That has been the case so far, but it might change, as ebikes give additional mobility to conscientious riders and the anti-social alike. This sees more bikes in general out on the trails, footpaths and other open spaces. I have already noticed additional erosion in areas on the commons caused...
It's only likely in an urban environment and then, only if unsocial behaviour or an accident is involved. It's still not legal though, but neither are many seemingly day to day situations. UK law states that it’s illegal to linger after a funeral, for example.
The question I was asking, is how a US bike differs from a UK bike in terms of its speed regulation.
I appreciate that it’s probably semantics, but I don’t want to tune or derestrict the bike, merely set it to a different region.
The legalities and practicalities of doing such a thing are at...
I would try to keep the bike within the original design remit for reasons of longevity, it's really about raising the ceiling for the motor on/off sequence at cruise.
If it truly is a software setting, then it can be changed, as the bike is designed for a higher speed. The next question is, how? I suspect that the solution is simpler than a chip,.
