Trek Rail - Carbon Frame Crash Damage

My best friend bought a Trek Fuel EX in carbon last year. His frame cracked mid way along on the down tube a few months ago. Maybe caused due to a rock strike. He's never crashed so it is a freak failure. Anyway, Trek refused to warranty. He shipped the frame away and it came back not covered...

Fuel EXe TREK's new lightweight trail ebike

I ride with at least 60 other people every Tuesday after work. I'm the only one of the group with an ebike and still can't believe it. Either ebikes are impossible to buy in Texas or they aren't catching on as fast as expected. It could be the pricing. I also get the feeling everyone frowns at...

    Bosch Gen4 Error code 603

After months of fighting this problem the fix was to update the battery/motor firmware to 2022 release. No more error code or shutdowns with the same battery.

16psi front and 19psi rear for loose trails. I weigh 195 lbs. If I move up from those pressures the bike feels skittish. It squirms on concrete though at such low pressures but they work perfect on single track.

    Biggest rear rotor for Rail?

Hi Philly, yes I have the 2021 9.8XT with the Zeb. My originals were 200mm. I think the 220mm upgrade is one of the best bang for the bucks available. 220mm with metallic pads work really well.

Anyone else noticed excessive cable wear?

Just in case it helps anyone else. I installed a new Jagwire Elite sealed derailleur cable and rerouted to avoid the cross over at the chainstay. The shift pressure required to switch gears is about 10x lighter than it was compared to when the bike was new. The shift pressure with the XT setup...

Anyone Using Spacers to Fit a 36T Chainring

A couple of weeks ago I bought a 10-45 SLX from Amazon. I destroy expensive cassettes quite often so moved to the cheaper heavier SLX version. I think they last longer. SLX CS-M7100

    2022 Rails

I'm getting a battery 603 error "Please contact your bosch dealer" so took the bike under warranty to my local Trek store. Everyone in the store was clueless. They were nice but clueless. Asked me to come back when the bosch guy is around (Thursday). I asked if I could buy a 2nd battery and they...

Anyone Using Spacers to Fit a 36T Chainring

Thinking back to when I did it, I think the chain ring bolts were slightly long and that's why I added the washer on the back. I remember that the bolts weren't threaded their entire length and the nut would bottom out on the end of the threads unless I added that washer. I'm super happy with...

Anyone Using Spacers to Fit a 36T Chainring

Sorry I didn't answer any questions. Missed the posts! Here's some better pics of the washers. The 36T is perfect with the FSA 1X Spider Boost 104mm BCD for Bosch Drive Unit Gen4 - W0138 and some really small washers to help tweak to perfect chainline. I've tried three spiders so far and the...

Anyone else noticed excessive cable wear?

My derailleur cable just started binding right at the cross over exit at the chainstay. Sticking shifts and super stiff to override the internal snag. I guess I'm dropping the motor this weekend, installing a new cable and doing a re-route to try to get rid of some bends.

2021 9.8XT Spare Battery Part Numbers and Places to Buy?

I'm doing a 200 mile ride in May and am thinking if I get an identical second battery I can charge one while I ride the other. I see my 625Wh battery is vertical and has part number 0275007546. Does anyone have a listing of parts needed to complete the entire build of a spare and pricing. Best...
