You should try John Nicholas Trail from Black Road. At the top you can make a right and ride the Skyline Trail to Castle Rock, as shown below or you can keep going all the way to the corner of Hwy 9 & 35.
I've notice a few rattling sounds. One definitely sounds like the rear brake hose rattling around between the top tube and battery.
The other noise is due to the rear brake cable being too long and the zip tie on the inside of the chain stay is too weak to keep the rear brake hose from rubbing...
The info on this site seems like the mini remote should be compatible with the Smart System: Bosch Mini Remote control unit for Smart System
I'm assuming bluetooth is available for Smart System bikes so it can communicate with the eBike Flow app?
I've replaced my derailleur and dropper cables and housings on my Sight VLT and can confirm it's the same. You have to drop the motor and remove the battery to replace either the dropper or derailleur cable housings. It's not too difficult but takes more time than it should for regular...
Saris MTR-2: MTR 2-Bike Modular Platform Rack is another great rack.
Ergonomics are a bit better than the 1UP since you can use one hand to unlock and lower the retention arms where this requires both hands with the 1Up rack. However, the 1UP is much better build quality since it's mostly...
Quite a few have converted over to coil on the Sight VLT. You can check this tread. Norco Sight VLT - EMTB Forums
Most have are using progressive springs. For a data point I'm currently running a Marzocchi Bomber CR with a Cane Creek 500-610lb Spring my riding weight is about 190lbs
Couldn't agree more!!!
My bike has down about 2 weeks now after damaging the speed sensor cable due to snagging some loose twigs in my rear wheel. I ordered 2 but shimano seems to be out of stock of a lot of parts.
I've also taken out 2 rear derailleurs a rear wheel and worn out a rear tire...
The rest of the parts to swap my drive train from SRAM to Shimano 12 speed:
Microspline Freehub
XT Cassette
XT Chains
New 32T Chainring
XTR MTB Shift Cable Set
160mm Shimano Crank Arm Set
XT Shifter
XT Rear Derailleur (Currently on bike with SRAM Eagle Components)
It's by the Hayward/Union City board on the Chabot to Garin Trail. Does look a like Rocky Ridge but it's no where near as fun/challenging. It's almost all fireroad on parts of the Bay Area Ridge Trail: Chabot-to-Garin Regional Trail Mountain Bike Trail, Union City, California
Chill Gary, the OP original question wasn't can I completely change over from SRAM to Shimano. Which is obviously yes.
He asked if you can run a shimano rear derailleur with the SRAM drivetrain and the answer is yes you can. They run perfectly together as the linked video shows. Indexing not...
After bending 2 SRAM NX 12 speed derailleurs in 3 months I've swapped out the rear derailleur for and XT RD-M8100 12 speed and it's been working flawlessly with my SRAM NX shifter, cassette, chain ring and chain. It's recommended to run the SRAM Chain vs Shimano which are slightly narrower...
After a few close calls where I just nicked my face during a fall. Thought that it was a good warning that Full Face makes sense for trail riding! I've been using a Kali Invader for the last few months and the only time I really notice that I have Full Face is trying to take a drink from my...
For those of you that are concerned about clamping ebikes or bikes in general by the dropper post. This video from Park Tools explains why this is not a problem:
Since your in the Bay Area, I'd recommend checking out Woodside Bike Shop in Redwood City. It's a small shop but Greg the owner and his wife have a bunch of bikes stuffed in there. They carry, Norco, Davinci, Orbea, Santa Cruz and a few others brands. Not sure what they have in stock now...
I'm currently using the IXS Carve Evo+, fairly light and well ventilated, forget that I'm wearing them on rides where we've pedaled 20+ miles.
IXS uses their own version of the 3DO foam material that hardens on impact. They have decent coverage on the sides of your knees and cover the upper...
Another option is to use a 12-Speed XT derailleur with the SRAM cassette, chain, and shifter. I've been running this combo for 2 months and it shifts eons better than the NX ever did.
Good luck finding rotors larger that 180mm with Centerlocks. I ran into issues finding 200mm or 203mm rotors that I run on my non-ebike when I bought some new wheels a couple of months back. Ended up using adaptors so I could use 6-bolt rotors on my centerlock hubs.
In regards to using Hope...
