I've tried the Enviolo cable operated version and I did not like it one bit. With the mechanical Rohloff, I felt you had to back off pedalling too much to change into a lower gear. Not that much of a problem with the electronic version.
The Enviolo automatiq, without the controller, is pretty...
Having had a decent amount of ride time on the Orbea Muga 10, I'm sold on the automatic gearing! It's just so nice moving about. As I had assumed, the most problematic is the transition from flat to very steep. It's like when you forget to downshift on a derailleur bike. To cope with this I've...
I've been riding a Bosch gen5-powered bike the last week. It did not have the latest 600% performance upgrade. You really notice the lower multiplier. The Levo just zooms so effortlessly up a hill.
The Orbea Rise SL is a pretty good example of a detuned full power motor (albeit yesterdays full power) with a small 400Wh battery to form a "SL" bike. The only disadvantage is 500 gram weight penalty plus a bulkier motor area. Same could be done with the Avinox motor if they would be willing to...
Just remember that Avinox has a 8x multiplier while Bosch has 4x. Bosch will certainly be more "unnatural" when they release the next power update since the difference between what you think the motor will do and what it actually does will be amplified.
Just dial it way, way down? In my experience, the combination of a high multiplier and low rider input is when a motor struggles the most being "natural".
Personal preference, but I didn't care much for the TQ (had a Fuel Exe with the TQ50) apart from the lack of noise.
M2S/700Wh would be about the same weight as EP801/630Wh. You could always dial the power down for longer rides. Orbea may even do their silly RS tune.
Still think it's a bit...
I'd accept a 600 gram weight penalty with a M2S. A TQ60 motor would turn away many buyers I suspect. However, since TQ is now used in the new Rallon RS, I suppose it could happen.
(btw, saw the Rallon RS this week, great looking bike)
Great writeup! Sounds like a really cool urban bike with some real advancements. Wheel size is interesting (mtbs have moved from 26 to 27.5 to 29). I'd love to buy one, but I'm guessing we have to wait until 2027 in Europe. In the meantime I've ordered an Orbea Muga 10 which is a full suspension...
Ordered a new bike today after asking the bike shop if Orbea would confirm that the bike was approved for the new 120 Nm and 600% assistance upgrade. Orbea confirmed it was.
Great move from Bosch (although they should have fixed the max assistance in the previous update).
I kinda like the R. It's burly like its brother, but why must every emtb ideally look like an analogue mtb?
For this season I have 3 options - 1) get the R if Specialized would give me a good reason, 2) see if I can get hold of one of the new Avinox M2S bikes or 3) wait it out and schlep my...
No problem with the update. Had to turn the bike off and on after the update for it to take. Saw a peak of 805 watts in my 5 minute underground parking garage test (y)
