Checked on the forum. Checked any relevant Bosch sites that I could find. Contacted Bosch. All without any hard information on when the updates are going to be available.
N.B.. I'm aware that the Gen4 update isn't the full Gen5 update. CX motor
Checked today. Still 85nm. Bike and app says...
As far as I can see I'd need:
SRAM XD Driver freehub
Cassette
Derailleur
Crank (Chainset)
Chain
Shifter
Battery + Charger
Is that correct or have I missed out anything?
OK so I can't help it that I'm somewhat on the tubby side. So trousers these days are sadly Large or even Extra large. The leg length however remains stubbornly on the short side. I've had trousers of various kinds shortened in the past but certainly for biking it alters the fit too much...
2022 Trek Rail 9.8 XT drivetrain with Bosch motor.
So what are the best tools for:
1) Tightening the chain ring and
2) Crank removal tool
Silly question probably. Will the same crank removal tool be OK for a SRAM drivetrain or do I need a different tool? If so recommendations please...
Trek Rail 9.8. Shock is: RockShox Super Deluxe Select+ RT, 230 mm x 57.5 mm
When I attach the shock pump it reads zero. Start to pump and it shows pressure. If I pump up the pressure say to 100 it doesn't stay there but reduces. It doesn't reduce to NIL but below the pressure for a proper sag...
At present the bike has the stock Bontrager SE5/6 fitted. I would describe these as scary 🤬😬🤬😬on loose gravel over hardpack. Now my bike control is pretty sh1t anyway but these tyres aren't helping. Going downhill is likely to cure any hint of constipation but broken bones & contusions at my age...
It would appear that a set of wheels that I have do not fit the bike. BUMMER!
But from various persona I've been told that a set of torque caps for the front wheel should sort this. But as usual the said various persona have indicated that this is an easy peasy job that any idiot could deal...
While mooching around a friends garage the other day I watched him apply grease from an ancient looking Castrol tin. He didn't seem bothered by the fact that the grease was years old. When I asked him the age of the Castrol grease he couldn't say but thought maybe ten years but probably more...
Can ayone positively confirm that
Park Tools FR-5.2GT - Cassette Locking Tool
Is the correct tool for fitting a Shimano 12 speed micro spline cassette? Looking at the info online it would appear so but first hand information from users is always good.
Tried an advert some time ago but no joy. So I thought that I would try again. Can I ask politely that picture hunters go elsewhere. Genuine enquiries invited & always welcome!

The charger for the smart system batteries appears to be 4A. Anyone found a Bosch charger that puts out more juice than that for the smart batteries? The "old" Bosch fast charger at 6A isn't apparently compatible with the new batteries. Unless you've found out otherwise of course.
Having read up on the Q factor I’m still not too sure if it will make any difference to my riding or if indeed I need it. All my pedals are fitted without washers. Do I need washers? Is it a good idea or not?
I'd be interested in your experiences whether good, bad or indifferent.
I ask as I've just had what I consider to be a pretty shit way of treating someone. I'll give you a flavour of what went on. As an aside I always play fair with anyone & expect the same in return. So as follows:
1) make an...
A bit of background. Sometimes these days I can't really be bothered driving for an hour or two getting wet & cold and then driving home again. It's an age thing. So I often just have a wee tootle around near home. It's mostly on track with some road. Sometimes I use my wifes bike (Still for...

Being an extremely old git and a total wuss I tend to bimble along and try not to fall off. Due to total incompetence however I managed a total splat. Knee and elbow now not happy and daily dressings are required:mad:. New MIPS helmet didn’t get a scratch!
So which parts do you find normally...
Trek bike and Trek (of course) recommend their own Bontrager fluid. A search on the net (sometimes dangerouso_O) reveals that you shouldn't mix stuff such as Stans with Bontrager. Not compatible so they say.
So is that correct or is it just one of the normal net rumours/misinformation...
Being a tool myself I’ve now managed to get more Stans on the garage floor than there is in the tyre! So I’m thinking……..is there an easy solution to holding the wheel rigidly to enable me to work on the tyre/wheel?
A search of the net brings up the WH-2 which seems to be a simple albeit...
