After finding my Leatt protection shorts have saved me from hip impacts at least three times, I figured I wanted another pair. Only thing is I'm not crazy about the Leatt's fit, so I ordered a pair from Alpinestars to try. They have an Independence Day sale going on so I also picked up a jersey and a pair of closeout shorts. I already have the short sleeve version of the jersey and know I'm fond of their mesh fabric. Mesh fabrics make a difference in the heat so I'm always on the lookout for reasonably priced mesh jerseys and shorts.

you might want to get a size up in the shorts as well
those protection shorts can add quite a bit to your waist
seem to remember Leatt have quite thin pads

I usually buy size 34 shorts and I always need to tighten the adjustment as much as possible. Figured for $51 I'll take a swing at the 32s since they were the only size available. I don't always run a padded liner anyway.

Circling back to share that the Alpinestars protective shorts fit a lot better than my Leatt equivalents. The hip pads are a much more hi-tech 3DO style, but the hip pads themselves are smaller in diameter, so the better pad covers less area. Considering them a win for fit; and a push for protection.

The 32 shorts fit perfectly. Makes me rethink buying 34s. 🤔

Not really what I bought, but a birthday present for me from a drinking buddy. Apparently he went to great trouble and expense to get EXACTLY this item. He almost had a nervous breakdown to see if his final bid was accepted. All fitted and in pride of place.

I think he was hinting that I was a dinosaur.
