Thanks for that @kefconstruction . That was good to hear. :)

I always appreciate feedback, even if it's unfavourable during the ride. I can do something about it then, rather than only finding out after the ride.
Your buddies were pleasant enough but I found them hard to read. I didn't want to ask "how are you finding the ride?" in case they thought I was fishing for compliments. I tend to yell out to the group, "are we going fast enough, or is this about right?" Or something similar. :) But I'm really pleased that they felt welcomed.

When @skismith decides when he wants his guided ride, why not come along too?

Hi Steve, I’m busy for a couple of weeks now . Is Sunday the best day for you if so I’ll talk to Mark & get a date , thanks again for your rematch offer & this time I’ll find you not some random bunch of riders .

I was out there on Sunday, mostly clearing up stuff. Brambles at face height are never good. I think they grow unnoticed and then a wind dislodges them and they spring onto a trail as fully formed garrotte traps.

I intend for us to be doing a winding gravity-assisted trail that is great fun taken at speed. But you have to be able to see the tree stumps! It had become blocked because of forestry work and the nettles, bracken and brambles had seized their opportunity for a takeover bid.
I cleared about 0.4miles, both sides of it, more still to do next time. As usual, I forgot to take photos of the worst bits, but here is a lesser example, mostly bracken and nettles, not many brambles. Before and after. I try not to overdo it. (It's easier that way!)

Yes thanks! The freehub/cassette problem is still being debated by e13 and Sram. That happened on a Tuesday. I spent Wed looking for an alternative wheel. But the LBS, Sherwood Pines Cycles, decided that the debate could take a while, so they provided me with spare wheel free for the duration!
That allowed me to do the guided ride the following Sunday. That was last Sunday and I'm still riding the bike. :)

I just have to fix that gouge in the top tube now.

Yep, Sunday is usually the best day for @johnc and me. John and I were out today doing some more trail clearance, the usual brambles and bracken, but a load of nettles this time too.

That bit of the trail that I abandoned on the ride, has now been cleared. But I can't guarantee that any of the trail we have cleared will be still clear in a fortnight's time. This weather is really forcing the growth.

That would be awesome

@johnc sent me this of a guy, Mark Page, that lives near Pines and regularly posts his videos (on YouTube I think). This is a good one. I can tell where he is, but only regulars could. All this is on the regular red and blue trails, plus the bike park.
12 mins

I had forgotten some of those blue bits. I'll see if I can in corporate them into the guided ride without having too much flat trail connecting them. Not as easy as it sounds.
