Well Brose did show a motor/gearbox concept 2 years ago. Could be still in development, destined for the Levo 5?

I think Specialized will move on from Brose for the next bike. Especially now that they (Brose) are owned by Yamaha. By all accounts Specialized initially partnered will Mahle for the Levo 4 and then went back to Brose after Mahle didn't deliver what they wanted.

Specialized might not even want to keep up with Avinox in this battle for torque and power. They might want to take a different path. We’ll only know once Specialized actually makes a move. So far, it’s been nothing but silence.

Personally, I don’t see much benefit in this obsession with torque and power. I’d rather see more efficiency and range instead.
As for SPZ using engines that aren't exclusive, I don't think there's a chance of that happening; otherwise, they would be abandoning a defining characteristic of theirs that very exclusivity.

Let's wait perhaps at least a year for any news.

They did make a move recentely, they released a new bike about 2 weeks ago 🫣😅

I feel like I saw a comment somewhere recently when Gobao was mentioned where someone made reference to them potentially working with Specialized. They have already supplied Aventon and perhaps they are more likely to give Specialized what they want in terms of own branding, interface, app, etc. than Avinox apparently were.
 
Advancements taking place rapidly and will the consumer wallet keep up with 4-10k+ changes? If this is truly 12 months away then why would anyone choose the new Avinox equipped bike over say the original PL Carbon or what you currently own. You'll witness a further erosion of used ebike prices, and the ability for smaller brands to afford new molds will be challenging. Look at Ibis for example. Their newly released 600wh Bosch bike is effectively outdated before it's hit market? It's effectively a tech game now, while most manufacturers are just frame builders who buy suspension and drivetrain parts. It's going to get wild and Specialized for sure must have an answer. They will.

What are you basing this on? Specialized has the money and prestige to attract top talent; and to invest in developing a winning motor system. Why the lack of confidence?

Windows vs. Mac... A boutique player with a name could pull it off. Remember, Specialized is well established with money in the bank, albiet a little less that a few years ago. :p

So just add a battery door (on the bottom this time) and a SWAT fanny pack and we have the Levo 5!

I mean the guy in Rob's video said he was with a Swiss company and Specialized's emtb office is in Switzerland. Would be very funny if they actually revealed the Levo 5 as a no label demo bike 7 months ahead of launch.

My point is that this is not Specialized core business and I'm sure all of this in-house development is rather expensive for very little gain in a market that is now more crowded & competitive than ever

This formula worked in the past, but faded with the 3.1 motor.

I'm not sure what Specialized could do to shift the Avinox hype to their bikes at this point.

I see this as multifaceted.

Product wise-Avinox does have the “hype” but Gobao just showed how Avinox isn’t unbeatable. I see no reason why Spech couldn’t continue to design a competitive product.

Production wise-Avinox is simply failing right now. Their inability to deliver product is causing the entire eMTB segment to underperform. This is the opposite of a minor issue.

Lastly Avinox appears to be nowhere close to delivering the service and support of Specialized. They seem to me to be near the bottom of the industry in service and support.

It’s not new to see a company develop a winning product but fail in delivering and supporting it. It usually doesn’t work out well. I truly hope that’s not the case with Avinox because I do like how they’re pushing the industry forward.

You're not the core market that the bike manufacturers are going for, you give them two options, high power/torque and slim batteries vs low power and better efficiency yadda ydda, which one do you really think will sell more? and as a business who are you going to go after? Its not you.

The Specialized market is a niche market a market defined by exclusivity and luxury. If I were to analyze the purchase of a bicycle purely rationally, I certainly wouldn't choose a Specialized. But I appreciate the exclusivity and everything else Specialized offers, and I’m willing to pay for it. And there are many others like me. It’s a market.

Buying a bike known for quality, with a proven design is pretty rational.

Purchasing from a proven manufacturer of top of the line bikes, with an extensive and (for the most part) well trained dealer network…….me think still rational.

Exclusive? Well no there’s shit tons around. For sale, on trail, in the mail…….


Luxury….I will give you +1 they aren’t cheap.
But I know people who can’t afford one, so they save and sell/buy/sell their way to a new Levo 4.

User on another forum suggested there might be something from Spesh at Crankworx Whistler at the end of the month. I wouldn't expect an eCVT bike so soon but maybe an SL3 or similar?
 
Soooo tired of the DJI fan boys on this thread. People don’t seem to be able to connect rapid model turn over with rapid obsolescence. It’s ok if your 3 year old drone gets out dated with no replacement parts but what about if your 3 year old e bike motor can’t find parts for service? I feel much more comfortable with Brose being owned by Yamaha now. Hype Dji all you want, I am currently shopping for a new Ebike and not one of the bikes with dji drives are on my short list.

There was also rumor of a new levo next year because the gen4 allegedly sold so badly...
