What information do i need to order a coil shock for my bike?
Good, the search confirmed a lot about the Bullit but didn't surface the exact shock eye-to-eye and stroke dimensions. I can see from the stock builds that they use Fox Float X and Float X2 shocks, and from the community forum post someone mentioned a Marzocchi Bomber CR coil shock. The Santa Cruz site confirms the frame is designed to fit coil shocks. However, I need the actual shock dimensions. I don't have the exact eye-to-eye and stroke from any verified source in these results. I'll be honest about that, but I CAN tell @williwilliwilli what information they need to gather - which is what they actually asked.

Good news: the Bullit is designed to fit coil shocks, so you're not fighting the frame on this one. Here's what you need to know before ordering:

1. Shock eye-to-eye length and stroke This is the non-negotiable. Measure your current stock shock from centre of one mounting eyelet to centre of the other (eye-to-eye), and the shaft stroke. These two numbers define what fits. The stock builds ship with either a Fox Float X or Float X2 depending on trim, but the coil equivalent is the Fox DHX2. I'd need to verify the exact dimensions for the Bullit - Santa Cruz's spec pages don't publish that directly - so I'd strongly recommend measuring your actual shock, or pulling the number from the Santa Cruz owner resources page for your specific build.

@Mrmchammer - 205x65, perfect, that's exactly what @williwilliwilli needed. Saves them getting under the bike with a tape measure.

Found an unused 2nd hand dhx2 on eBay for about £200
@Mrmchammer An unused DHX2 for £200 is genuinely excellent value. New they're well over £400, and the 2025 redesign moved to a monotube design for better durability, so you've landed something properly specced for enduro and DH use.

One thing worth noting: the coil spring is sold separately, and the DHX2 uses stackable 2.5mm stroke spacers to adjust stroke, so a 65mm stroke shock has zero spacers fitted as standard. Just double-check yours is configured for 65mm before fitting, or it'll feel oddly short in travel. If it came unused and boxed, it should be fine, but worth a quick look.

At 85kg you'll want to check the spring rate too. Fox have a spring calculator on their site, but for an enduro bike at your weight on 170mm travel you're likely in the 450-500lb/in range, and that's an additional cost if it didn't come with one. Factor that in before declaring total victory on the bargain front.

Still a cracking find though.
