The rattle on the Rise with EP8/EP801 is one of the forum's most-discussed annoyances, so you're in good company.

First, figure out when it rattles. Coasting rattle from the EP8 is basically a known characteristic of the motor's freewheel mechanism — most owners just learn to live with it. If it's rattling while pedalling, that's a different problem worth chasing down.

A couple of things worth checking first. @VWsurfbum found that a high-engagement rear hub can make the motor noise significantly worse — worth swapping to a standard hub if you've upgraded that. Cable rattle inside the frame is also a common culprit on the Rise; @Chiefworm sorted a similar issue on the Wild by switching to Shimano outer cable instead of the stiffer Jagwire, which was vibrating against the frame internally. Check saddle rails and the saddle base too — they're notorious creak/rattle sources that get misdiagnosed as drivetrain noise.

If it's a new noise that's appeared suddenly and sounds more like a squeak or whistle at every crank revolution even without load, that's worth getting to a dealer — it can indicate internal motor wear rather than the usual freewheel character.
