I like to maintain my seatpost ever few months. I have integrated cables with cables in the stem. I already have some slack but not enough. I need a few more inches to make it easy to service.

I am going to pull more slack and leave it next to the battery, but anyone have any suggestions?

I thought about a quick disconnect but did not find any i like.

any ideas.

There must have been enough cable in the beginning to enable the dropper to be installed. Have you tried removing the remote from the handle bar to give more slack. If that makes no difference, then the outer cable must be either clamped inside the frame or trapped somewhere.

I have enough length if I if i take apart the integrated headset and move the lever closer in. I have no issue doing that in my past bikes, integrated too, but not headset. But since there is a lot to fuss with the stem it makes it a 2 hour job instead of minutes. After I do it a few times, it might be quicker to perform

@steve_sordy above is correct.

To avoid disassembly of the headset you probably need to remove the dropper lever from the handle bar (not just move it inward) so you can pull more cable out. We’ve had to do this on bikes with/without integrated headsets when there wasn’t enough extra cable.

That is tomorrow's project. I bought a new handlebar, so all will be changed. When I said slide, I kinda also meant if that was not enough, I would remove it off the bars.

the problem its it does not slide in the stem. I need to remove the stem and that new fangle spacers with the cable passthroughs. Hopefully I have the 2" to store somewhere below and it will be easier next time.

I have a Cannondale Materra

I spent some time today fixing all the cables, and I was able to clean up the wiring inside the battery compartment and the rat’s nest that came with the bike. I also managed to squeeze out a few extra inches of slack for the dropper cable so I can access it when needed without messing with the cable in the headset.

As for the cleaning: I had a hardtail for years and never dealt with this much mud. Mostly around the rear wheel and the saddle has/had caked on mud. Having some dirt on the handlebars was not bad. I’ve been riding in a lot of slop lately, so the pictures make the mud look even worse. I also don’t hose down the bike after every ride.

For future use, maybe? Get rid of the internal silly stem and put in this to get rid of the cables going through the bearings??

Anyone ever use one of these cable splitters? I would never use it on brakes are derailleur, but for the dropper. It could work. Not sure how it works from the picture.
