As the title suggest what winter riding jackets would people recommend? Needs to be waterproof. I’m 6’1 and let’s say ranging from dad bod to middle age spread so no super tight options. I normally end up in xl to 2xl sizing as apparently large is reserved only for those with a size 30’ waist 🤣.

I feel your pain! I have the same issues with performance MTB clothes. I'm 189cm (just over 6'2") and 108kg. Sometimes when I look in the size guides, it suggests that I'm XXXXL. I weigh more than I should, but that's plain silly.

I ended up with an Endura MT500 Waterproof Jacket Black in XXL. It's a tad short in the body for general use, but fine for mountain biking. It has massive side vents that you can open up, which I love, even if they're impossible to open and close with the jacket on.

I bought that a few years back and it's holding up very well, but the model may have changed in the meantime.

If you're in the UK, you may want to check out Fat Lad at the Back. They mostly produce for the lycra crowd, but may have expanded their range.

Thanks for the reply Tim. Yes sizing is crazy. Don’t get we started on clothing described as skinny fit. I’m aware of fat lad at the back from the dark days of riding a road bike but hadn’t considered them for mtb so I’ll take a look. Endura is a good shout, I’ve had other stuff from them before which has held up well.

today I am ordered a Kenny Master winter jacket. I try a L size on lokal shop, but it was a little narrow.
Quality is perfect, same like fox ranger fire alpha, the cost is less than 100€

I don't understand why such a great mtb winter jacket doesn't have a single review on the internet

after some rides I made some quick review
