Crestline RS 181.2 thread – builds, reviews, technical info

I should perhaps clarify that my e13 wheels are on a bike with a CYC X1 Pro motor, which already has some lag to the pickup, so the issues I mentioned might not be so apparent if you have an Avinox, Bosch, etc. But there was noticeably more lag with these wheels, so it's not entirely down to the...

According to Chat GPT, there is only about 1 watt more friction in a regular hub like a DT Swiss DEG, so I'm not sure the lower-friction e13 makes a meaningful difference to rolling speed on the trail. Spinning the wheel on the stand could be misleading as there are no other forces involved...

Velduro Rogue 170/165 mullet Enduro with DJI

I tried 142mm Amazon cheapos and I would have kept them if they didn't have a massive offset/q factor. They're great until the battery dies... Currently on 150 Eagle 90s.

It actually does still help a bit, because there is more horizontal distance between your trailing leg and the wide part of the saddle. I noticed this when swapping between 175 and 150 cranks.

I like to flip my bikes over to work on them BMX style, and this activates/ damages my e-bike controllers. Ideas?

I got these. They work pretty well; just make sure they don't rotate when you're setting the bars down.

Weird Reversed Stem Geo / Chat

I went back to a regular 35mm forward stem because I was getting too much tucking with 15mm reversed, and it felt twitchy/unstable, especially in ruts or on skinnies, where precise placement of the front wheel is important. (I ended up having a fairly spectacular OTB after tucking the front at...

I'm 5'8 on a good day and my inseam is 31.5. With a narrow saddle a 170-180 dropper is enough, and maybe a 150 would be usable. But narrow and/or low-stack saddles (including the SM Pro, which I have in my parts bin) are just too uncomfortable for long rides.

Do they, or anyone else, have a medium demo bike?

I destroyed my motor by attempting an out of warranty service at home. I know.

Bosch motors come up frequently on ebay.

I've never ridden a Crestie but I am basing my calculations on a OneUp V3 and SQLab saddles. I have 150mm cranks and the top of the saddle should be about 700mm from the BB. I do like a thick saddle (currently the 602 Active touring saddle) but even a thinner one like the 611 only gains me about...

How are people dealing with the short dropper length? Looks like I'd only be able to get 150mm on the RH-2, or 160mm if I get a really thin, uncomfortable saddle. And I have wide 'sit bones' so I need a 16cm saddle, which contacts my legs on steeps and corners unless I can get it really low...

    Whyte Karve Evo

Yeah I notice they haven't got anything about low COG in their sales pitch this time. That's probably because the Avinox batteries are long and thin, so there is necessarily lots of weight near the head tube. The Avinox motor is also lighter than Bosch CX, which will affect the distribution of...

    New Feature: Bike Finder

Hasn't changed on my end. And those are the only two listings I checked, so I expect there are quite a lot of errors on the site. I'm a pretty good proofreader if you want to hire me, but there are probably some decent AIs for that these days.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention they do 150mm, which few brands do. That was the main reason I got them. I might even go down to 140 or 145 if I can find some cheap-ish cranks in that length without a crazy Q factor. (I'm using a CYC X1 Pro motor, which is pretty wide already.)

Eagle 90. Cheap, work fine, not super heavy, and only have a small logo so they blend in with all your other parts, even if you don't have a SRAM drivetrain.
