I still use my old Park Tools stand5hat’s coming up 20 years old (looks a bit like the Deluxe one above). For the full fat e-bike I have a thick bit of corrugated cardboard I wrap around the top tube and it holds the bike up fine. If it’s something suicidal and easy that can be done upside down...
But you could say that about pretty much anything or any situation. The odds of injuring myself with my phone (especially my balls which are not really close to my phone), are pretty slim compared to the million other ways I could (and have) injure myself on a bike. Safety is all about playing...
My wife clips in on everything because she found that even with good pedals, good shoes and good technique she just kept getting her feet bounced off the pedals on really rough terrain. Switched to clips and it was night and day different.
It might well be because she’s much lighter than I am...
Been offered a bargain on a 230x62.5mm rear shock. The standard Decoy has a 65mm stroke. Has anyone tried this, I’m happy to sacrifice the approx 5-7mm of rear travel as I don’t need all 165mm.
I know the 29er comes with a 230x60 shock but will take a 230x65 to increase the travel with no...
Ri’m hoping that when mine go I can find someone to do some electrical wizardry and swap the cells in the Decoy battery. That’s assuming the Shimano motor outlasts the battery
Replaced a pair of Code R’s that I broke a piston on while servicing it (🤦🏼♂️) with a pair of DB8s that I picked up from Banana Industries for £45. It seemed a no-brainier when a single piston was £25. I’ve been more than happy with DB8s I’ve ridden on other bikes (including long alpine...
Someone on PB said they spoke to one of the US YT Mills and were told that Jenson had bought up most of their old parts stock. So keep an eye out on there.
I expect that in the UK someone like SportsDirect, On One or Banana Industries will do the same.
Has anyone heard anything more from Intradrive? Like power, torque, cost and availability? Will you be able to fit them ourselves and will they require their own battery or work with existing ones.
I’m trying to make plans for when the EP801 shits there bed and I need something for the Decoy.
I bought a pair of SRAM DB8s from Banana Industries for £45. I just broke a piston while servicing my Code Rs and when I realised a replacement piston was £25 I figured the DB8s were a no-brainer. I’ve used them before and more than happy with their power and heat management.
I’m sure I read somewhere that Hunt didn’t recommend their wheels for e-bikes as they couldn’t guarantee the hub for e-bikes. (This may have been a specific hub, or I may have invented it in my head).
Meanwhile my standard Sun Ringlé Duroc wheels are still going strong after months of abuse.
Yeah, I hadn’t realised they didn’t weigh a ton until after I posted. I’ll keep them for now as they seem to be able to take a beating (just like the Sun Singletracks that are still running straight(ish) on my jump bike.
