Are you sure it's the bike and not the charger possibly over heating? Have you tried a different wall outlet for the charger?

Like me, I think you might have damaged the switch on the battery. As in my OP if you remove the battery cover, remove the switch which is just stuck on, it will remove the error and your bike will work fine. Providing the the batteries in the Purion display are ok, you won't have a problem.
