Every point so true. Poor spares availability and no upgrade path leads to huge waste and environmental damage. Manufacturers need to wake up and provide a clear upgrade Plath for their products.

It doesn’t have a shelf life at all. I worked in the Lubs business inc grease. It’s actually almost impossible to dispose of, the plants have tons of off spec stuff in barrels stored for years. As pointed out, the aviation products are the exception, they need regular re-certification as expected.

Ok not commenting on th overall quality of any manufacturer, but I’ve always used KMC chains on shimano and SRAM systems without any issues or noticeable differences other than KMC e-bike specific chain does appear to last longer.

I have the older Bosch with the new Neon display. I have experienced similar issues recently (nothing working reliably and powering off) and found it to be some dirt on the display connections. A quick wipe of the contacts on the display and mount fixed it. Took a while to diagnose though !

I was riding MM DH casings, replaced the rear with the Exo + version.12 months on, no issues other than the fact that the exo is noticeably lighter, I’ve not had any problems.

I’m still running EX1 on a Mondraker with bosch gen 2. Over 1000km now it’s still like new (inc chain, which I think is an sram 10s).

Ok I appear to be the only one that has used silverfish, for a DHX2 and transfer dropper. Not cheap, but fast and efficient, fixed damaged parts in the price, so overall a good experience.

Modern Lithium Iron batteries have an incredibly long service life, if looked after. ( Never fully discharge and store at 70-80%). Far better than the Lipo battery in phones, unfortunately they are heavier.

I use the Hiploc on my road bike for short stops. It can be cut with a decent pair of pliers, but most opportunist’s don’t carry them, so it works and weighs nothing. Straps nicely to the top or down tube.
