Cycle To Work Scheme Being Reduced? - UK

The primary purpose is to encourage people to cycle to work, but there is no restriction on what else you may use the bicycle for. To be eligible you need to have a viable cycle route to work. However, this does not necessarily mean you need cycle from your home address to your place of work...

Cycle To Work Scheme Being Reduced? - UK

I used the bikes I bought to cycle to work. So did many others that I worked with. However, many bought bikes and never cycled to work. I fact we should have had an empty car park and a massive cycle shed – but it wasn’t quite like that. And my emtb was relevant to cycling to work, as on the...

Cycle To Work Scheme Being Reduced? - UK

I wouldn’t disagree. I think the scheme could be fairer – perhaps applied to lower rate and not the upper rate + NI. Though having said that with Reeves not raising tax allowances until 2031 (is it?) looks like a tax once only paid by senior managers etc, may be paid perhaps by the majority of...

Cycle To Work Scheme Being Reduced? - UK

Umm, the only change to pensions I see is the salary sacrifice scheme for pension savings with respect to NI contributions. AVC’s I thought came under the overall Pension Input Allowance PIA. That, as far as I can see, remains unchanged at £60,000 pa. So your AVC’s, I think, should be OK. I...

Cycle To Work Scheme Being Reduced? - UK

It is a political discussion. The C2W scheme is political – it is a scheme built around a tax break. Thread started on the 13th November. 3 pages long now, and I’ve just made my first comment. I’m not into shouting matches. Anyway, my view is the chancellor won’t get any meaningful cash from...

Cycle To Work Scheme Being Reduced? - UK

A friend wanted to see my then new Mondraker Acee. It was sat next to my BMW R1250R in my garage. I have to say that neither of us could understand how on earth the Mondraker ended up with a retail price of 50% of the BMW. It is mental. Thank goodness for the C2W scheme! And yes I used to cycle...

Cycle To Work Scheme Being Reduced? - UK

I doubt it. But those who do will soon miss it once its gone. The whole cycle industry is pretty fragile at the moment. Removing the C2W scheme will be sure to see further significant falls in bicycle sales and more firms going to the wall. It is also worth noting higher earners don’t pay full...

    Gen 4 freewheel

So that sounds like to me, you are describing the sprag clutch sticking. Ie now and again it will drive the chain backwards when you back pedal. And as you have found with a wee bit of persuasion it frees off. Usually, it is a sign that there is moisture inside your motor. The bigger problem is...

    Tow bar mounted bike racks

The BUZZ RACK looks like it has a similar clamping method to my Thule Easy Fold XT. Its not ideal and struggles a bit with top tubes with a varying diameter - ie most emtbs. Also not great with Carbon bikes. I do have to be careful securing the bike on the rack. However once I have it on, and...

New bike day, Mondraker Crafty RR

I do like the info and all the stats it generates. It is just that it is too big and the mount is such that you can’t tuck it away out of harm’s way. I prefer the original Kiox on my 2021 Cube. Nice brake levers by the way.

Old topic. Bosch Gen 4 motors

That’s news to me. As far as I am aware there is no maintenance schedule for these Bosch motors. They are sold as maintenance free sealed units. Yes, it is very disappointing that these motors fail at such low mileages with water ingress. Then further frustrating that Bosch will not support...

New bike day, Mondraker Crafty RR

Mines got the Kiox 500 display, which is lovely in itself, but on the other hand it is like having a tablet mounted to your bars. Way OTT. Will that mount take the Kiox 500 (that looks like a 300 in the snap), and will it allow the display to be tucked out of the way as per that photo. Has...

A couple of snaps of the riderwalker charge port cover. Expensive for what it is. But then it is small scale manufacturing, well made, and a nice snug fit. So yeah, I’m well pleased with it, and is a major improvement over the shockingly rubbish and inadequate Mondraker cover.
