    14t Chainring skipping...too small?!?

Okay....so I borrowed the stock 15t chainring from the wife’s Cube, bought the SRAM guide tool and properly set the B-screw clearance....and VIOLA no more chain slip. I now believe my original hunch was correct, a 14t chainring just does not have enough teeth making contact with the chain due to...

Just did a camp/Mtn bike trip to Mt. Shasta and dropped 3,000 vert from Bunny Flat to the Mountain bike park close to Mt. Shasta City.

We’ve had a few close calls in the past few years also. Hard to decide when to stay or go, however with the winds being somewhat unpredictable best to keep staying safe as the highest priority. Best of luck to you and yours and God Bless!

    14t Chainring skipping...too small?!?

If I’m in the two larger cogs no problem, I assume due to the reduced load of those ratios.

    14t Chainring skipping...too small?!?

I effectively removed two links....perhaps starting with one would have been better. I installed correctly the proper new link listed on KMC’s website....but that doesn’t matter because the front chainring will slip even if applying moderate pedal pressure with the rear brake locked. Not sure...

    14t Chainring skipping...too small?!?

Yeah as stated in the original post I pull two links...I also have since replaced the derailleur hanger because it had been bent and then straightened prior. And adjusted the B-screw to SRAM specs 14mm from the largest cog. But looks like the smaller chainring is only contacting 5-6 teeth...

Just looked at the Trione-Annadel state park website says ebikes are not allowed, but that wouldn’t stop me from trying.

That’s sounds like a lot of fun! I’ve been reading about Zim Zim and many other trails in the area, there seems to be so much public land everywhere out here. Not always sure of what use is “allowed” but it’s so very remote do you even see anyone else out there? 10 hours is savage! I don’t...

I went to Skyline once with my son....though we didn’t make it very far up the hill. I didn’t see anything posted about ebikes and the lady that took my money didn’t say anything. Also saw another guy on an emtb. Didn’t know that about Rockville, parking always looks super crowded too....not my...

Wanna be ebike owner Bay Area, California

I got my Raleigh Kodiak “used” from bicyclebluebook in San Jose, they have quite an impressive stock of bicycles and a few Ebikes! Also check Motostrano in S.F. where we got my wife’s Cube.

I’m not too far away near Lake Berryessa and definitely down.....once I get my chainring sorted. New to this and haven’t ridden either of those places. I know a little of the backcountry near Angwin as I used to work up there. Rayhouse road is another ride I want to try from either side. Skyline...

    14t Chainring skipping...too small?!?

I can’t even make it a mile....and the sudden freewheel could be painful if your really pushing.

Newbie to EMTB. Have choice of 3

Well did you pull the trigger? I road the Tokul you speak of in S.F. streets and hills, only for a few miles and decided I needed full suspension and better brakes. I ended up with a 2018 Raleigh Kodiak which is the same thing as the Izip DS I discovered. I’m happy for the money I spent, $1800...

    14t Chainring skipping...too small?!?

It has a chainring guard on the outside and additional guard on top of the idler....when it skips/slips it jumps to the inside of the chainring.

    14t Chainring skipping...too small?!?

Forgot to mention....the bike only has 115 miles on it, but I did go ahead and check it with a Pedro’s tool and it’s still less that 0.5%.

    14t Chainring skipping...too small?!?

Hi all, I recently went from an 18t to 14t chainring on my Bosch CX powered Raleigh Kodiak IE. Now the chain is skipping and coming off at the chainring! I tried adjusting the derailleur B screw a bit and it still skips. So next I removed a pin and 2 links then installed a new missing link. Now...
