About to put my order in for a frame set. Any reason not to go with race axles if it will see drops, rock gardens, etc on the regular? Overly stiff with a fox 40 up front and we are one carbon DH hoops? Also wondering if those who went with the 40 up front left it up at 203mm or went down to...

I been on both Pivots and Evil bikes for the past 5 years or so and love the reach numbers on the the current Firebird, but am a bit disappointed with the LT number and have been giving the Epocalypse a look. Anyone else in the same boat?

It's just aluminum. It will be fine. Too many horror stories to consider the Pole. 180+ Bosch 29er options in proper reach are essentially non-existent, unfortunately and the Scott is cheap enough to chop without too much worry IMHO.

I found a shop with an L in stock today and went and sat on it. Reach is perfect and the stand over is no different than small motox. Looking at the frame seat tube, I think an inch of material could come off without a problem, but a super low profile dropper will be something I try first.

Sorry. Meant to say seat tube. And it didn't look like there is much room to have it shortened.

So I'm 5'8 or about 172 cm and I currently ride a pivot firebird 29er as well as a trail for trail 429 Enduro for my analog bikes, and a Norco range VLT ebike. All are a size medium. I'd say I ride my e-bike 4 days a month tops and put 20 days on the other bikes. I've gotten very used to long...
