I bought it at the Specialized dealership in Taipei in 2023, and brought it to Japan. The Specialized dealer in my city in Japan has done some light maintenance on it for me, but told me that he can't help me with the motor or firmware updates, etc. The Levo is illegal in Japan.
It seems to only make that whistling sound when I peddle. At first, I thought it might be the brakes, but it's not. My Specialized dealer took a look at it and he thinks it's coming from inside the motor. But he can't help me because there is no service for the Levo in Japan. So I've been stuck...
No, Japan does not sell the Levo, or the Kenevo. Also, you cannot update the firmware for those bikes in Japan. You're right, Japan only sells the Levo SL.
I bought my Gen 3 in 2023, and I have not updated it once. I live in Japan, and Levo is not sold here and I cannot update it in Japan. So I've never updated it.
I also had a Kenevo SL, but I stopped riding it after two months and bought a Levo. I liked my Kenevo SL for the stability, but the motor was just too weak for me. I remember my Kenevo SL motor also being a little noisy, but no problems. I think I had only about 300 - 400 km on it.
That's crazy. I think at around 700 on my Gen 3 Levo. But, there has been a whistling sound coming from the motor area from about after the first month or two that I bought it. Someone said that it might not be the motor, but the rubber rings inside that might need grease. The old Japanese guy...
The good news is that some guys have told me that it might not be the motor. Even the old guy who owns the Speclialized dealership here thought it was the motor and couldn't help me. I guess I have to either press him harder to look at it, or take it to another bicycle shop that will help me...
