I’m on my second motor and it has been great. No problems.
I suspect it has something to do with exposure to water. With the first motor, that’s when my issues started. After the first wash.
I get it for your use case. I just need it set and forget. The rest of the settings I’d be interested in changing are available in the phone or pc app.
Luckily there’s an awesome Shimano dealer nearby. They were able to get Shimano on the phone and address the issue in no time. Apparently...
Lucky, I called twice today, no luck with the consumer option. The shop, where I've left the bike, also didn't have any luck, presumably on the dealer line. Hopefully they are on a retreat to come up with better customer service options.
My replacement EP801 came from Shimano USA, shipped from CA.
I have been loyal to shimano MTB products but this experience has me reconsidering that loyalty for their e mtb products.
My EP801 was swapped but the assist limit is set to 25km/h :(
What are my options for setting the limit to 32km/h and changing the wheel circumference?
Negative. My LBS gave me a brand new battery, after a couple of laps in boost on the hills of my neighborhood, the bike went dark. I disconnected, cleaned, inspected the main terminals of the battery mount and motor and still hasn't come back to life. My LBS is swapping the motor out next.
