AXS Dropper not going down

Hi All,
I wondering if any could give me any advice My AXS Dropper is not going down when you hit the remotes it click like it should go down but nothing happens. Couple days ago I rode the bike and the dropper remote battery was dead and after a little ride the post was going down and would not stay up. Changed battery today now stuck in highest position. And won’t go down. I would appreciate any advice.

It's very easy and uses simple tools. I suggested it bc you may be able to do it. Also, check the dropper battery, even when it says there's some charge I find my to hesitate sometimes if it's close to dead.

Are we talking about the OG Reverb or the modern version? I only know about the modern one. The first thing I'd do is hit the button on the dropper. You should hear a click, and the valve should now by open. You should be able to weight the post and have it go down. If it doesn't go down, then either the valve isn't opening, or there is a mechanical bind. Like someone else suggested, it wouldn't hurt to stick another battery in there because it's easy. If that's not it, I'd go for a 50 hour service. It's really not that difficult, and requires no special tools. You don't even have to remove the saddle.

Battery is fully charged and changed controller battery too it is the original AXS dropper post I have never had a service a shop tried to fix the bobbing motion by releasing pressure a few years ago

There's a reason the manufacturer recommends service after a specified time period. If you've failed to do that, it might be a good place to start.

Have you done a software update recently, I’m not saying it’ll work but it might be worth a try

Yes I have done all software updates. To Be honest I did not realise had to do servicing on a dropper but makes sense now.

You’re not on your own mate, I’ve had my dropper post for almost 5 years and I’ve never done a service on it because I too didn’t realise it needed it

On the subject of droppers: I know that they ought to have a service, but I leave well enough alone until I detect something different about its actuation or performance.

The 170mm travel, 30.9mm dia, Merida Expert TR original equipment on my Merida eOne -Sixty, has never showed any problems in over five years. I have had two new inner wires and outer hose replaced in all that time, but nothing wrong with the actual dropper. I don't know which manufacturer supplied Merida or I would have said.

My grandson now has the bike and is ragging the arse off the bike and still has no problems. However, I'm pretty sure that he does not clean and lube the stanchion between rides, so I expect that he may see problems before too long.

If it’s the AXS Reverb dropper, there’s a pressure button (white) at the bottom of the dropper that a user can easily service your own dropper. By depressing this button and cycling the post you may solve some problems. However, a 50hr service is a good idea. Learn how to do a simple service yourself …fairly easy.

I’ve used the Reverb dropper for a number of years without any issues. However, weeks after I installed the dropper it began slowly dropping during rides. It was still under warranty and the turnaround was about 4-5days. I’m not sure what they did but the dropper has worked perfectly for many years.

At least twice a year I loosen and re-grease collar and apply a thin layer of suspension oil to the post. It becomes a good habit to oil the post the same time you oil your front/rear suspension.

Cycle everything then wipe up the excess.

Ref my post number #11, where I referred to the reliability of the dropper post on my Merida.

I asked Google Gemini who really made the Merida-branded dropper and it told me that it was supplied by TranzX. Also that the posts are highy reliable, the internals use a fully sealed, non-serviceable internal gas/hydraulic cartridge.

Just thought you would like to know.
