Idk I got my m1 and M2s in a timely manner.

We’re all 30+ in this forum and majority of us already have perfectly good emtbs. Idk why everyone acting 12 years old when their bike takes a couple months extra or something new and better comes out. I just got the M2s and if the mgu releases tomorrow I’m still effing stoked to see it.

Not to single you out, I just don’t get people being annoyed when something releases quickly. I’d rather this than waiting 5 years between every minor upgrade in tech.

Wow, there are a lot of details on this thing, things are really heating up!🔥 Sounds like it is more than just a concept. It will be interesting to see if the Avinox "MG" is similarly far along the development cycle. The charging speeds are really next level compared to the Avinox 700wh, which is already next level compared to everything that came before it, so this is really a wild leap forward in very little time.

Hopefully Gobao has kept the awesome waterproofing from their regular motors on this eCVT, as that was another real advantage they have had over the competition.

Ground clearance doesn't look great, but its a little tough to tell without a chainring for reference. If it could be run rotated 90 degrees or even upside down it looks like it could be competitive though, or if they had a really sweet integrated skid plate, that made obstacle contact less concerning.

Also I hope that the eCVT has some way of being pedaled even if there is a loss of power.
 
Wow, only 340g more than the M2s combo motor/derailleur, but that weight would be center on the bike. Their battery is also that same amount lighter than avinox so wash in total weight, but where that weight is on the bike is improved especially off the rear wheel.
 
gearboxes will kill the bike shop, thats why we havent had them so far. As shops make money from chains and cassettes servicing etc. will be e big hit to this source of income and why we havent had them so far. news from the source.

Interesting if true. I'm pretty lazy and I still do my own chain/cassete stuff. There's nothing to it.

I've started a separate thread regarding this motor as a lot seems to be brewing with this motor platform and that battery is noteworthy. What's not clear at this point is if the MG is actually a ECVT of some kind. Rumors from over a month ago were pointing to 10+ speed gearbox. This Gobao looks to be true a ECVT, which would be compelling if true.

I can see where you are coming from in terms of the shifting hopefully being more stable on a gearbox, but electronic shifting already reduced the need for cable replacements and adjustments, and people still bring their AXS and Di2 bikes in for tune ups at the shop, no?

Electronic gremlins provide a whole new source of repairs that, while different from 20yrs ago, require shop expertise to diagnose and hopefully repair. Motor swaps have been pretty common on a lot of brands too, as some of them seem to fail nearly as regularly as traditional drivetrain components (although I am not sure how much shops are compensated for this). In some ways, the fact that you need to bring these electronic parts to be diagnosed with "dealer" software actually makes these higher tech bikes less DIY friendly than more old school tech, as the consumer may not have access to the necessary equipment to troubleshoot, which makes the shop more essential than before, when a reasonably skilled home mechanic could fix most of the standard stuff.

The gearbox bike would still use a chain/belt and sprockets that would need to be replaced, which must be sized properly.

And the gearbox bike would still need its brakes and suspension serviced, its hubs and headset serviced and bearings replaced, etc...basically all the normal bike stuff will be unaffected.

Let's pray to the gods that the motor mount and axle placement is the same. If so, the Pinkbike classifieds will be flooded with AXS derailleurs.
 
OK, so this from E-Mountainbike Mag discussing the X1P:

In systems such as the Owuru Gearbox, Avinox MG, and Gobao X1P, a planetary gearbox with two electric motors operates inside the unit. One motor adjusts the gear ratio and determines how easy or difficult it is to turn the cranks. The second controls motor assistance. Together, they ensure that gear ratio and drive power are continuously optimized for the riding situation.

If this is true then the Avinox MG is a real ECVT! To the gods I hope they got this right. It's seismic enough that Avinox is entering the MGU space, but if its an actual ECVT, the announcement will exponentially more seismic.

Available in late 2027 or more realistic early 2028 is a long time and a lot of new innovations will come from other companies.
It's good Avinox is pulling the innovation so other companies can get into compete mode.

I don’t think so. Some of us still want to ride bikes, not mopeds. CVT in scooter is fine, on car…well not so great and emtb, probably not. On Cargo/City bikes could work.

Seems like the Gobao is also pretty far from release, which makes me think those amazing battery specs exist only in a spreadsheet based on known cells that won't hit the bike market for a while.

Actually, ECVT is perhaps the only MGU concept that will could actually work well for EMTB and moped CVT is not the same as Hybrid Transmission like ECVT. I thought I read it’ll have like artificial gears. I bought my wife a Subaru last year (sold it) and it was cvt but it feels like normal shifting. You can even “paddle shift” it. So it’s going to be similar feel to regular shifting bike I’d guess.

Yes, if true ECVT is employed, then exposed fixed gear steps would be artificial, but completely optional, and ultimately a gateway into stepless transmission bikes. I bashed my brand new Axs derailleur Sunday and look back thinking, why tf is this still what we use. Im on my second Avinox bike in under 1 year and I’d upgrade again if crestline all the sudden dropped an mgu version lol!
