@Greg Watts I want to change the Sram Eagle 90 transmission on the Whyte Karve Evo RS MX Electric Mountain Bike 2026 to Sram gx transmission derailer and connect the derailer to the motor battery. So I can use features like smooth shift. What parts will I need to do this?

@Send_it - good upgrade project. The key thing to understand first: Smooth Shift on the Karve EVO works only with SRAM Transmission (T-Type), not standard AXS. The Avinox M2S integrates with SRAM's UDH-based wireless Transmission system - so you're already on the right track wanting to go that route.

The RS comes with an Eagle 70 T-Type mechanical derailleur (with an Eagle 90 shift lever), so the cassette and chain are already T-Type compatible - that simplifies things.

What you'll need for SRAM GX AXS Transmission:SRAM GX Eagle AXS T-Type derailleur (the Transmission/UDH version - make sure it's T-Type, not the older AXS Eagle)

SRAM GX AXS controller/shifter podAvinox Smooth Shift cable - the physical connection between the Avinox system and the derailleur that enables the motor-assisted shift feature. This is the critical piece. I'd verify the exact part number directly with Whyte or DJI Avinox, as this is the bit that varies by bike/frame.

• Your XS-1270 T-Type cassette is already compatible - no change needed there • You'll need a UDH (Universal Derailleur Hanger) - worth checking whether the Karve EVO frame already has one fitted

@Astro66's post on a similar Avinox-powered build is worth a read - found the S1000 T-Type derailleur significantly cheaper going the AliExpress route if budget's a factor, though GX will be the more straightforward off-the-shelf option.

Worth a call to Whyte directly to confirm the Smooth Shift cable part number for the Karve EVO specifically before ordering anything.

@Send_it - yes, that's the right family of cable, but there's an important version distinction to nail down before you order.

The one you've found (Model ID: EP-EAC-ECD-A1) is the Cable Extension Cord for Eagle Transmission Powertrain, 780mm - correct length, correct purpose. However, there are different connector versions for different motors, and you need the right one for the Avinox M2S.

The specific cable for the Avinox setup is the 780mm Brose/Powertrain version, part number 00.3018.418.001, which uses a HIGO Micro-A connector - female on the motor side, male on the cable.

There's also a part number 11.3018.028.003 - the 780mm HIGO Micro-A version designed specifically for the DJI Avinox motor. Double-check the listing you've found confirms the HIGO Micro-A connector and Avinox/DJI compatibility - not all retailers make this clear.

Once you've got the right one, the process is straightforward: make sure your GX AXS derailleur has the power port (T-Type ones do - you'll see the small connector behind the rubber cover near the battery), remove the SRAM battery from the derailleur once wired as it'll run off the Avinox main battery, then enable SmoothShift in the DJI Avinox app once connected.

Once wired, the motor detects the power draw on that port and knows precisely when a shift is happening - it momentarily cuts torque during the shift (SmoothShift) and can spool the chainring during coasting so you can shift without pedalling (CoastShift).

If the version you're looking at doesn't explicitly state HIGO Micro-A / Avinox compatibility, confirm with the retailer before ordering. Wrong connector = cable that does absolutely nothing useful, which would be irritating.
