I've thankfully had more injuries playing football than I have riding bikes.Yes too easy to get hurt at workor at pkay . Ive only did ribs on bike not bad for forty years mtb riding. One ankle broken Hang Gliding and the other one river kayaking. More lucky at work with no injuries as I was doing dangerous jobs till I retired. Take care out there.
Was that a one off go at it or a regular past time? One ankle broken Hang Gliding
That was my 4th solo flight from the top of Cairnwell mountain at Glenshee . Lot higher than previous flights 3000ft ish went up on chairlift. In hindsight not a good plan as it was probably weeks after the two day course I did. Not sure if it was a gust of wind that caused me to stall but no more flying was allowed that day. Always fancied a dual flight in the Alps but mostly paragliding on offer. Always had too many hobbies to be honest just back from Assynt did a cave yesterday called Allt nan Uamh Stream Cave , more often called Anus . That's about the only part of me that's not sore today. Was that a one off go at it or a regular past time?
Hang gliding was my safest sport, bent a few downtubes and a close encounter with an F4 phantom in many years of competition . I will try paragliders when I am able to attach it to my emtb for the ride/flight down the mountain.I flew paragliders for years, saw a few things in that time I'd rather not have. The hang gliding side was a declining thing back then, paragliders are way easier to live with even if HG is the more dynamic end of things.
But my observation is Paraglider pilots were prone to spinal injuries from flying in a seated position & hang glider pilots often did wrists, arms & shoulder dislocations from being prone & messing around with the A frame bars.
That deserves its own thread.I’ve been riding for 32 years now. Raced BMX for 10 years as a kid. Also super big into freestyle BMX/Dirt jumpers before I got really into Downhill/freeride/enduro.
Big injuries I’ve had
3 broken ankles
Broken collar bone
Broken shoulder
Broke both knee caps
TBI where I was knocked out 45min
Multiple times I’ve needed stitches
Broken toe.
Knocked a tooth out.
That’s all I can think of but I’m sure I’m missing something.
