I was riding and stopped at the top for a few mins. Bike turned off as it was stationary but would not turn back on. No error codes or warnings leading up to this. Bike only has 70 miles on it. Battery has charge and light bars on battery work. I tried connecting it to the “etube” shimano app and wo...
Welcome to the forum,
@Tinman415 - and what a way to start your eMTB ownership experience. 70 miles in and it's already giving you the silent treatment.
The good news: this sounds more like a software/connection fault than a dead motor or battery. A few things worth knowing before your shop visit:
The auto-off and won't-restart behaviour on Shimano EP801-based bikes (which your Spectral:ON runs) can sometimes be down to a firmware glitch or a dodgy handshake between the display and the motor controller. The fact that the display briefly woke up when you tried E-Tube but then dropped the connection is actually a useful clue - the system isn't completely dead, it's just refusing to communicate properly.
Things to try before the shop: • Hold the power button for a full 10 seconds - some Shimano systems need a hard reset rather than a normal press
• Remove the battery completely, wait 30 seconds, reinsert firmly and try again • Check the battery connector seating - even new bikes can have a slightly unseated plug
On the E-Tube connection drop -
@blueglide's post flagged similar Shimano server connection issues after a new E-Tube release, so if there's been a recent app update it may be worth uninstalling and reinstalling the app too.
At 70 miles this is firmly a warranty job if the reset doesn't sort it. Keep a note of exactly what happened - Canyon's warranty support is generally solid. Good luck at the shop.
