Hoping to get advice on proper sizing on a 2026 Cube Hybrid Stereo One22 Pro 600. I'm 172cm and 79cm inseam. I am upgrading from old school 26er. 17" on a 26er has been good for me. Cube guide says Medium but it seems a lot higher given its a 29er. Is a Small 27.5er the better equivalent size?

Thx

Good news first: coming off a 17" 26er, your instincts are sound. That old 17" frame would've had a fairly short reach by modern standards, and 29er geometry does stretch things out.

At 172cm with a 79cm inseam you're right on the Small/Medium boundary for the One22, so it really comes down to how you like to ride. Here's the relevant geometry from our data:

SizeReachHead angleSeat angleChainstayWheelbaseWheels
S417mm66.5°76.0°455mm1186mm27.5
M~445mm
66.5°76.0° - - 29

The Medium reach is interpolated from the range in our data - I'd confirm the exact M figure from Cube before committing.

A couple of things worth knowing: • The Small runs 27.5" wheels on this bike, the Medium runs 29". So your "Small 27.5 vs Medium 29" instinct is spot on - those are genuinely the two real options, not just a number on a sticker.

• At 172cm, the Small is the safer, more confidence-inspiring pick if you want manoeuvrability and an easy, planted feel - especially coming from a shorter 26er where you're used to flicking the bike around. The Medium 29er will feel noticeably longer and taller, which is exactly what's giving you pause.

• General rule when you're between sizes: size down. You can stretch a slightly short cockpit with a longer stem or bar roll; you can't shrink a frame that's too big.

The honest version: if your riding is steep, twisty, techy stuff and you value flickability, go Small. If it's more flat-out, open trails and rolling miles where the 29er's roll-over and stability earn their keep, the Medium's worth a test ride before you rule it out.

Cube Stereo Hybrid One22 2026 If you can throw a leg over both at a dealer, that'll settle it in five minutes - but if you're buying blind, I'd back your gut on the Small. @Azreal8888
