Any recommendations for sturdy but lightweight long trousers (trails, forest riding etc.)?

Currently very happy with Hummvee zip offs, which offer the best of both worlds. However, I'd like to avoid being a tick magnet now the ferns are getting bigger and Hummvees zipped-on are too warm. Any recommendations for something more lightweight?

The best I have found are the Yeti ones. They are relatively snug and not baggy, thin, breathe well, and come in long sizes as well. They have been holding up well. The Pearl Izumi ones are a bit thicker and not as comfy though fit well. Many are just way too baggy.

If you like the Endura products why not have a look at their Singletrack trousers. I have a pair in red, they're very light and have a discrete zippered vent in each leg for extra ventilation (which I haven't had to use yet). They do seem to be a tad long for their waist size so they bunch up at a bit at my ankles cos I don't have long legs, but that's not been a problem for me. Endura Singletrack

These are what I wear and I really like them. They are long though and so I had the wife remove the bottom 4" section and now they're a perfect fit on me.

I have a pair of Fox Ranger and also some Nukeproof (sorry I can't recall which ones, nothing on the label either). Nukeproof fit better than Fox Ranger.
The Fox Ranger are very lightweight, totally not waterproof (despite NikWax treatment) and the fabric has gone limp quite quickly. But the Nukeproof ones, whilst still lightweight and shrugging off splashes and light rain, still feel substantial. Substantial enough to fend off nettles and glancing impact from Gorse and Brambles, but not direct impact from falls into them!
The Fox Ranger ones I would wear if it was absolutely not going to rain, and has not rained for the previous week. And preferably nowhere near Gorse and Brambles.
But I will be wearing the Nukeproof ones tomorrow, no matter how hot it gets! Despite the widespread presence of the aforementioned spiky plants. I would buy Nukeproof again in favour of the Fox Ranger. :)

I'm currently using 100% Airmatics and they're amazing. Super light, nicely cut and surprisingly durable (held up well when I slide on my arse down a big granite rock slab when I was checking if it was safe to ride down!). I haven't worn them in a full on downpour but they're certainly splash proof.

Currently on sale @Tredz if you'd fit a 36" or 38"

I just came here to say the 100% Airmatics too ✅

My go-to "good weather" trousers are the Endura MT500 Burners, designed with input from the "Athertons".
Good, comfortable, stretchy slim fit, strong & light, with small vented sections and cordura knee inserts. Fend off Brambles (and ticks) reinforced seat and good zipped pockets. The only thing I don't like is the stupid belt buckle.

As said earlier in post #11:

I'm a bloke, but in warm/hot weather wear Endura Women's MT500 Burner Pants (L), fit perfectly and are surprisingly strong. Bought 2 pairs when on sale at half price.

I wear Troy Lee Ruckus Long travel and NF 6 day pro. Both slightly more relaxed fit (I hate the skin tight racer look) Both stretchy, water resistant and more subtle colours. They both look good on the bike and in the pub!

I have a few different pairs and I always end up riding in my Ennef pants. They have a wide elastic band that keeps the pants up and isnt uncomfortable like regular belt, clasp or velcro systems. The pockets are mint too. Two regular unzippered pants pockets and a zippered stash pocket.

Perfect pants imop

I have their winter and rain pants as well and they're both awesome.

Yes on the Endura pants. Love them for reasons stated above. . As mentioned I had to have them shortened tho. $20 at my seamstress place.

For her last birthday my personal seamstress (aka wife) wanted a nice sewing machine to replace the ancient Singer that was originally her Mum's. Was happy to oblige her with the Janome machine that she wanted. For sentimental reasons can't chuck the old Singer of course.

Since you are looking for pants to help with ticks, you should try Permethrin. You spray it on you cloths, shoes, knee pads, etc.... It dries and last about 6 weeks and through several washes. It kills ticks (and other bugs).

Sawyer Products Premium Permethrin Insect Repellent for Clothing, Gear & Tents.

Here is a (US) amazon link to it:
It is better than Deep Woods Off as it kills ticks. Permethrin and Deep Woods OFF! (which contains DEET) serve two completely different purposes. Permethrin is an insecticide that kills bugs and is applied exclusively to clothing and gear. OFF! is a repellent that deters bugs and is applied directly to your skin and outer clothing

I use modified Fox rangers, Bought 3 pairs when on special, The single dome's are rubbish and come undone easily, the defend version with ratchet is considerably better but they are much tighter around thigh's which dont suit me as i naturally have Thicc thigh's :ROFLMAO:

I have one pair with Dual Domes, a pair with belt loops added and they are much better for staying high.
They are much like the shorts version, very flexible.

Thanks to everyone for the myriad options. I've ordered a pair of Endura MT500 Burner Lite pants and will start there. Let's hope this is not the start of one of those long expensive journeys!

Now, I've been thinking about changing my saddle....

Endura quality really isn't where it used to be for the money. I used to swear by it at one point all my gear was from them

Just doesn't stand up now, I'm now using a mix of 7mesh gear and Madison stuff. The former is obviously expensive but the quality is superb.

Madison stuff is really, really good for the money. Half the price of Endura pants and better quality.

I have bought many Rapha lightweight trail pants on sale. They’re excellent. NF has lightweight pants. Lots to choose from. I switch to the standard NF pants in the cold months.

I always prefer long pants for the ticks and poison oak where I live.

Velocio do some pretty good trousers (and shorts). They aren't exactly cheap, but they often have things marked as a last/previous season that can be heavily discounted.

As a bonus, for a larger chap such as myself they also have larger sizes.

I have the opposite problem I have long legs and have to buy bigger waist size to get the length I need, then have to get the waist taken in,I might try the Endura Singletrack trousers, any other suggestions ?

Shipping to the UK would probably hike price, but NF has two lengths.

Bonus is that they're made in NA with living wages.
