Oh, … she knows her stay behind and all other commands VERY well. Maybe this pic is misleading as I told her to overtake as she wanted to greet my wife who was taking the picture.
And yes, you’re right, Peach is a purebred Border Collie although she comes in a custom paint job

) Joking aside, her color is called Australian Red or Mauve and she was one of two in the litter. We love her to pieces

During a solo ride I was suddenly surrounded by a number of dogs (6-8). The alpha dog wouldn’t let me move. The dog walker showed up and calmed the dogs.
There’s a number of trail dogs and several dog walkers that use this area. At least twice a year a dog goes missing but is usually found a few days later.
Dogs are usually unleashed at the trail entrance. 99.9% of them are well behaved and a good companion for hikers or bikers. I also think they are a good idea for the lone hiker. They serve as a good distraction in the event of a bear encounter.
I come across numerous trail dogs and I usually recognize the dog before I recognize the owner. After a short chitchat I always ask to take a picture of their friend only. I must have 2-3 dozen pics of trail dogs.
Some larger black dogs refuse to wear a leash.

Beck the Patterdale Terrier.
Her prey drive is off the charts, so have to check the herds of deer are not close before letting her loose.
She goes nuts when you go anywhere near the workshop as she loves to run with the bikes.
