Hey. Thanks for sharing. I also did a deep dive and wanted to share some things.

Im at 600 miles and no measurable chain wear. I measured with calipers across 24 links and didnt see anything. 0.25 over 450 miles seems like a lot of wear. The ANSI chains are really robust.

I tried a bunch of things for lube and have a ton of professional experience with drivetrains and lubes. Yes, grease is always wrong on roller chains. idk why RM put that on there from the factory. The issue with the 20wt is it fliings and drips off. I went with 75w90 synthetic try to give it more cling. But the transfer chain would start making noise almost immediately. I tried lighter oils and they were worse. Plus I didnt want to be adding new oil with a dropper after every ride.

I have researched lubes A LOT for this chain and ended up finding Silca's SYNERG-E and really like it. It has A TON of additives like WS2, so the film aspects of normal oil lube are less important. It also has additives to reduce flinging/dripping. Im 50 miles into it and its still as quiet as the first ride, so much better than the straight 20w or 75w oils.

Have your tried way oil?

Have your tried way oil?
Way oil was on the list. I kept looking because of the application differences. Way is designed for very slow moring applications. There is a ton of tackifier in it. The transfer chains are slow moving, for chains, but orders of magnitude faster than machine ways. Tackifier = heat generation as well. Plus there was no WS2 or dry/particle lube in the way oil.

My #1 choice was going to be a throughout cleaning and doing a submersion hot wax. #2 was chainsaw bar oil. Those all got bumped for the Silca oil. Seemed to check all the boxes.

I recently did a deep dive on maintenance for the Dyname 4 transfer chain and wrote up an article.

TL;DR
- Don't use grease.
- Use 20 weight way oil (Vacuoline 1409 is ideal).
- Replace the transfer chain frequently.
- Replace the motor sprocket o-rings frequently.

Another question: You went with a 208 square o-ring thinking the square profile needed a shorter oring. I just looked at my round ones and it appears the chain rides on the highest point of the oring. This would imply the full circular oring thinkness is whats needed?

Just wanted to ask based on the observation and see if there was more to it that I didnt pick up on. Thanksl
