I have not ridden either but my 12 and 15 sons both have the meta sx and they are just sensational bikes. How is the E version compared to the normal when going down hill?? Are the ride characteristics the same but just the normal emtb differences? if so then this could be a cracker of a bike

Yep feels super familiar as the geo is almost the same. Just heavy and requires a lot more body language to move around. Makes my regular SX feel light which is great! Keen to put a 170mm fork on it though and may even experiment with a 65mm stoke shock to make it feel even more similar.

That sound great. I was surprised that it didn’t come with 170 38’s. Wonder if you could put 180 38’s on it. If changing the forks might as well go big ???

Interesting, according to the specs, it only allows 160mm in the back... do you think it could reach 165mm? 170mm I think it would already be unfeasible. In my case, the front part comes the ZEB 170mm, it is one of the reasons why I wanted this model.

Btw, is there any reference number or something about the shifter cable (battery) which connects to the avinox m2s motor? (smooth shifter) I will change the Eagle 90 to GX ASX and would to connect the shifter to the motor, but no idea which is the cable for this new motor.

The Shocks eye to eye on both bikes are the same so in theory a 65mm stroke shock will fit, as it does on the regular v5 SX. Would need to check clearance under full compression.

Not sure about the cable. Would be a standard part id assume

I remember writing to Commencal a while ago about the maximum shock length allowed, as I was very interested in knowing if I could go to 165mm or 170mm (I was very interested in the geometry of the Meta Power SX 400) and at that time they told me no. Specifically, they replied with this:

spanish: El recorrido del amortiguador no puede cambiar, tiene que ser amortiguador de 230 * 60 mm
translate: The shock's travel cannot be changed; it has to be a 230 * 60 mm shock.

Although at the time they also told me they weren't going to sell individual frames for Avinox, when the reality is... COMMENCAL À LA CARTE - High-Performance Mountain Bike Frames for Every Trail 🫠
 
Yeah it would void warranty, but I reckon it could be done. Similar to running a Cascade link which I had on my older AM29. They generally don’t like you messing around with different stroke shocks or aftermarket linkages.
 
Recieved my Meta SX avinox a few weeks ago now. I ordered last July! Have to say this thing is beautiful. Switched out to a ZEB, my own carbon wheels and bar and updated brakes to TRP pros. Bike is agile, poppy and fun! The M2s is insane power. Im coming off an Ekano with the SRAM motor which I felt had ample power but this drive. unit is just next level. I have the bike down to 54 lbs in a size XL. would like it a bit less but oh well. All in all im a fan so far.

oh man, what a beauty... enjoy and nice components! I am still waiting for my Pure White Rockshox version... until July!!! 2 months!!

Hi, have deliveries already started?
It feels like only a few bikes have been delivered so far, and the large-scale rollout hasn’t really begun yet. I also can’t find any proper tests or detailed user reviews.
How do you explain that?

From my personal experience: I placed my pre-order in December last year and I was included in the July delivery batch. I've contacted the bike shop where I placed my order and they tell me that, for now, there shouldn't be any problem with that date, but we'll have to wait a bit longer (June) to have more certainty about the deliveries. I hope there are no problems... because I'm seeing future delivery times and they're pushed out to December! Crazy! By the way, I'm saying all this from Spain; I don't know how it is in other countries. What is certain is that it's not just Commencal — all the brands are giving very crazy delivery times, Avinox must be overwhelmed.

And yes, it's surprising not to see many reviews about Commencal (though it's true you don't see many for other brands either... and for the ones you do see, I understand they've prioritized giving certain bikes to famous reviewers, but come on, this isn't new for Commencal... they don't do a lot of "marketing"; their marketing is in "competition" and showing results there, not in "reviewers" giving their opinions).

Same situation here. I placed my order in November and was given a delivery date of July 2026.
At some point I noticed on the website that delivery times had briefly moved forward to May, which got my hopes up — but now they’re currently showing September.
I’m based in Italy, by the way.

This is my first Commencal, so I’m not really familiar with their marketing strategy. Like I said, I’m just a bit surprised that there are so few proper tests and detailed reviews out there.

This is more of an Avinox thing than Commencal. All the brands wanted to jump over to them and not miss the boat so they've all announced their bikes in or around April 9th despite the production lines not really being able to offer them before the season (northern hemisphere) is mostly over. I actually think they might end up doing more harm than good to themselves and disappoint a lot of customers.

So am I. Andy Sykes' review is the only one I've seen.

I popped into their new Andorra HQ when I was in northern Spain last November and had a look at it. It certainly looked very tasty with their glossy paintwork, but none of their display bikes had pedals on them so you couldn't even ride them around the carpark. I like aluminium bikes, but am disappointed to see how heavy they'll be. Will have to see how future reviewers find how it handles.

I was concerned a bit about the weight as well until I rode it. My ekano CF is a few lbs lighter but honestly I wouldn't know it at all the way the Commencal handles. It felt a lot more lively and responsive honestly. Maybe it's the motor being able to offset it but my fears are put to rest. I think the goal for Ebikes should be the push to reduce weight and overall size to power ratio as time goes on. Aesthetically, I like it but will always like the push to get its close to analog frame size as possible.

As a result of low stock across all brands, I'm starting to see people selling bikes on the second-hand market for a higher price than in the store or direct from the brand. Basically, seeing that waiting times can stretch to the end of the year, they're pricing used bikes higher than new ones, which is not good at all (bikes with Avinox).

Delivery update for Canadians:

Placed a deposit for pre-order back on Aug 9 sor a size L Podium build, recepit said delivery 04/15. Just got off the phone with Commencal Canada and they said there's a container of them on a boat somewhere scheduled to hit port June 20th. So late June/Early July for delivery at the Squamish showroom.

Of course the delays may be due to a single component in the build, so different builds may have different timelines.

I did not order mine as early you, but it did say April 2026. My old bike is still running good, so I can wait.
I have the red Zeb model ordered.
