Kado rear brake problem

I have a Kado RS with SRAM DB8 brakes.
Just taken out the rear pads to replace them for the first time.
The caliper isn't lined up with the disc so the pads haven't been fully contacting the disc.
The adapter and washers look to be the right ones, any ideas what the problem might be?

A few months ago I reinstalled the SRAM DB8 brake system on my son’s bike. (Removed from my Fuel EXE). Everything went fine until the calliper to rotor alignment.
When I removed the SRAM pads I noticed they were not wearing properly …not as bad as yours though. Also I felt that the pads wore down too quickly. Slight uneven wearing also.

I’m fortunate to have a good assortment of adapters (8-12 different sized pairs). Thankfully I found a correct size for the front and rear brake. Alignment with the rotor was critical. Yours only seems to be touching about 80-85% which is likely leading to premature wear on one side. That may also be causing the squareness to slightly change.

It seems as though your adapter is wrong. Perhaps a thin washer hack for the adapter might solve the issue…but I would want a proper sized adapter.

If you get the right size adapter your braking power will definitely improve.

Check your calliper pistons for squareness and smooth operation also. Clean out the dust.

Did you ever contact Whyte about this? I've got the same issue on the same bike. Will take some photos next time I've got the rear wheel off and send them an email.

I've been to the shop where I bought my Kado this afternoon. They said moving the washers from under the caliper to above was the right thing to do. They were set up wrong from Whyte, a known issue apparently, would have been a good idea to alert customers!
Washers below caliper for 203mm discs and washers above the caliper for 200mm discs.

Yep, this is a spacing issue, just need to move mounting hardware around until the pad/rotor contact is correct. It's not ideal the manufacturer got it wrong but the bike industry has so many variations in component sizes one has to be a bit of a tinkerer.

Sorry I might not be of too much help as when I ordered my rs I got the bike shop to swap out the db8s for hope tech 4 EVO gr4s, but I've had SRAM on all of my previous bikes for 15+ years.

I've found generally installing new pads I always push the pistons right back, then slot the new pads in, then fit the wheel, then loosenen the caliper bolts off and squeeze the brake a few times let's you find middle, then squeeze the brake hard and tighten the caliper bolts up.

If one side is still touching the rotor or bite is uneven then loosen the caliper bolts off, stick a torch underneath and line it up by eye, tighten the rear bolt first making sure you can see light on either side of the rotor between the pads and then do the front
