I thought we had got past this random ‘fact claiming’ of inefficiency 😆

I’ve owned or ridden many G5 CX & Avinox bikes & when you run them at comparable outputs, they still get comparable range & elevation.

I haven’t ever ridden the Druid & come back wondering why I couldn’t get the same amount of elevation out of it as every other 800wh battery bike I have available.

And yet in the real world M1 vs Gen 5 efficiency is pretty much the same providing you have detuned it 😂

I'm assuming you've still not ridden an Avinox bike? Surpised you havnt cancelled your Bosch Orbea for the Avinox version either

I've actually never seen an Avinox but I'm sure it won't be much longer. I'm also certain I'd be completely happy with an M2 in any of the many fantastic bikes that are being released.
Even though I generally like the latest and greatest thing, I stuck with what I had coming (CXR Wild) because It has all the power I needed (and now it's getting more on May 5th), I really value reliability and serviceability, and I was assured by my dealer that the discount I was able to get would not be possible on the new Avinox.
Ultimately I'm still stoked. It's in my garage now and with dual coil suspension, dual downhill tires, dual downhill wheels, electronic 200 mm dropper, and electronic shifting it weighs 48.6 lb ready to ride.
Soon it'll be getting a totally unnecessary power increase but it appears that Bosch might have the upper hand on the rumored new battery being released over the latest Avinox batteries.
Wouldn't change a thing.
Well except blowing out my knee on it on my second ride and now waiting to be scheduled for surgery.
I think these new really high power levels are problematic, and I know that Bosch is joining in, from a trail access, battery usage, and even drivetrain wear perspective.
I ride in all mountain conditions. It's very rugged and steep but we don't have any real mountains. 85 Newton meters is plenty for me, in fact. It's a bit much.
But I get that I'm not everyone. Some people live in steep mountains, they're really large, maybe they're out of shape, maybe they have one knee like I do right now.

At this point it's just fun!

Anyways, the M1 is like the Gen 4 Bosch, totally nice, but old news now with some obvious shortcomings.

Sethimus, most versions of the M1 are less efficienct than the Gen5, this is indisuputable at this point.

DJI themselves acknowledged this by saying they fixed the tight seal issue on the M2s. That's also why you can now pedal them without the motor turned on.

The reason the M1 showed to be efficient in the online test, was because the motor was tested at a very high power level so the 30ish watts of motor drag ended up being a small percent of the overall power, and the motor was operating in it's most efficient range. That's not the real world when people average closer to 200 watts on a typical e-bike ride.

Anyways, the M1 (which was well behind the Gen5) has now been replaced by the M2 which solved the rattle, the ineffiency, and also added a wallop of unneeded power. No appreciably improvement in battery density however.
please, watch this video:

from about min 33 onwards, and try to understand his point.

hint: if the resistance is now reduced by 40%, and en par with the competition, it never was that big as you always try to make it...

Thats impressive. You said ready to ride, so thats with pedals?

God speed on your recovery. I couldnt imagine going through that after NBD.
Yes, with flat pedals, sealant, bottle holder, heck even my little sag indicator and shuttle guard, in a size large. It's a 600wh battery for the record. I too was surprised and found another scale to compare that read .2# higher.
The knee sucks. Just waiting to find out if it's a 6 week recovery (meniscus) or 9 months (ACL).
Thank you for the kind words.

Bad weekend for my forbidden, log jammed in rear wheel and spun the mec up into the chain stay.

Druid still does all I need and want but an extra 20mm wouldn't be terrible at times 😂

Gonna go to a 170mm Zeb on tbe front of mine anyway. Was gonna go coil but the more I've ridden the Air Vivid and tweaked it the more I've gotten to like how it actually does ride with it

Such a cool bike but I know it's more than my AM riding, and probably a lot of people's riding, calls for.

I look forward to the E-Core vs. E-Naught comparisons.

If you’re not riding double blacks on the regular, I can’t see a nought-e being any fun. In the PB video, that S4 looks looooong next to Olly and Dario, and they’re not small dudes.
Yeah this is why I am happy I just have the Druid. It's still upto the job for the steep Scottish tech Enduro stuff but then is equally as playful and fun in the flow stuff

Aww comm'on.... you know you can never have enough travel.... even if just riding fire roads!! :ROFLMAO:

"This is a very, very capable bike, and I mean that in the truest sense of the word. "Capable" gets thrown around a lot, but I think the more telling aspect of the Dreadnought E is where is feels bored. If you're not hauling ass on this thing, it feels underutilized - the downhill bike analogy does a lot of work here."

I kind of suspected this.

the new dread is certainly impressive, but it’s singleminded. I know it wouldn’t be ideal for me after living with a 170/170 KSL for 4 years. I am having so much more fun on the “trail bike” edruid. 160/150 with intend fork and Telum help with making this even more capable but still keeps it fun on most of my trails

Dread would make sense if I lived in the mountains and had winch and plummet rides all the time. But even in places like that near me, the Druid would be more fun most of the time

Nice to have choice though !

Interesting, seen mixed reports from folk who have gone to coil vs air and the back again.

I was set on a coil but I think I'm gonna get the Vivid tuned with a WPS piston and see how that goes as it's feeling pretty good now after some more tweaking
