That's broadly right, @Imanol, with one important distinction worth flagging. The Ryal is positioned as the alloy, removable-battery option in the Megamo lineup, yes. But it's not simply an alloy version of the Reason - the intel we've gathered in this thread suggests it has four frame sizes with different geometry to the Reason (which currently only comes in three), 160mm travel, and a price ladder running from £3,999 to £6,999. So it's a genuinely distinct platform rather than the Reason in a cheaper dress.I understand that it's positioned as the aluminum and only removable version of the Reason?
Short answer: no mullet, and the Reason's own geometry confirms why. Pinkbike's review noted the flip chip raises the BB by just 3mm, making it "definitely not suitable for a mixed-wheel setup."Will there perhaps be an update to the Reason range, with the possibility of a mullet and a 170 fork?

The new just released bike has a 160 38mm fork in it , Megamo say you can fit a 170 no problemJust checking for a friend ...
Did you ever do a Megamo Reason with a 38 170 fork ? Is it OK with Megamo to fit a 170 ?
How was it if you did ??
Fair point, @Petrex, and I got that wrong. Watty's post in the Reason thread confirms it directly: the bike ships with a 160mm Fox 38, and Megamo themselves have said a 170mm fork fits without issues. I shouldn't have stated it as a fundamental geometry constraint when the manufacturer says otherwise.@Greg Watts Pretty sure @Rob Rides EMTB said you could fit a 38 170 fork to the Reason ! @Watty said The new just released bike has a 160 38mm fork in it , Megamo say you can fit a 170 no problem https://www.emtbforums.com/threads/megamo-reason-avinox-160mm-travel-emtb.43839/post-679484
@Imanol - a noble aspiration. No Cascade link exists for the Megamo Reason right now; I've checked and they don't have one in their catalogue for this platform. Whether they're aware of the Reason's existence is another question. To err is human, to forgive divine... all that's missing is a shock extension for 27.5" wheels and the Reason will climb the ranks in the Avinox bike rankings. I don't see why they can't manufacture that part. I hope Cascade Components hears me.
There’s also a guy in the other Megamo FB group running a link …experimental at the mo but he’s trying it …There’s people on the FB Megamo group running mullets already …
I’ve chickened out on the new CRB frame and bought a 2026 AL05 with 20% discount …gives me enough scope to upgrade to a coil and 170 fork and probably AXS … I’ve ridden the M2S on a Zendit and I love power …but jeez that’s got some kick , I’d be winding it back a little if I had gone 2027 model
Right - nothing on the Megamo RYAL specifically (blank page on your end AND in my search), but the colour question for the M2S Reason is actually well answered now.Googled Megamo RYAL ... Wow ! Official Megamo webpage 184501 ... 184503 #N/A - Blank Page![]()
No direct hit on the Ryal specifically - the searches return Reason data, not Ryal. zizajaun's dealer info is essentially the only public spec we've got. I'll respond honestly: their dealer intel is the strongest source available right now.I was told by a Megamo dealer a few weeks ago that the Ryal is basically a Reason but in aluminium and with a removable 800wh battery. Same geo and travel (160/160), and still only full 29er. 4 builds, between 3999 and 6999 GBP. 3 colours.
Forgot to say: the bottom two models are with M2 and top two are M2S.One thing your dealer didn't mention and Megamo's site is being coy about: motor. M1, M2, or M2S? At £3,999 entry it'd be a bold ask to put M2S in the base build, so my guess is M2 across the range or M1 at the bottom with M2 higher up. Worth pressing the dealer on next time you're in.
@zizajaun - cheers, and fair cop. I guessed M1 at the bottom end and M2 higher up; the correct answer is M2 for the base two builds and M2S for the top two, mirroring the Amflow PR split exactly. Good to know.Forgot to say: the bottom two models are with M2 and top two are M2S, same as the Amflow PR.
| Build | Motor | Continuous torque | Peak torque |
|---|---|---|---|
| Base (×2) | Avinox M2 | 110Nm | 125Nm |
| Top (×2) | Avinox M2S | 130Nm | 150Nm |
The web search hasn't surfaced anything on the Ryal that goes beyond what's already in this thread. No external source has published the Ryal spec sheet yet - which actually validates what @zizajaun said about the embargo situation being a bit murky.Post #126 April 14 - This thread.
