Disclaimer : pedals were bought with my money AND I have no connection or interest in any of the companies producing the products described.

Hello

I ride on OUTLIER 'Pendulum' pedals since 2025 (on an AMFLOW, 1500 km so far).
OUTLIER Pendulum
Before, i've spent 4 years on catalyst EVO (excellent).
Catalyst EVO

I write this review after 1500 km on the pendulum, back to the catalyst EVO (same bike, same rider, same uphills / descents).

Both pedals (peddaling innovation and OUTLIER pendulum) are premium products.

The Pendulum pedals

Quality
The pedals are fantastic, and after 1500 km of ride, shocks etc, no loss of pins nor damage on the pedals.
And despite riding on Mx wheels, pedals rarely hits.
But when they hit, you feel how strong and resilient they are.

Sizing (and the hole inside)
My size is 11 (US).
The pedals have a nearly perfect fit, i've never 'slipped' my feet inside the hole, despite many 'wrong' manoeuvers.

Stability
Insanely good ! You feel like you stand 'inside' the pedals, not 'on' them. It changes everything (climb, descent, control, confidence).
The connexion is awesome (for flat pedals), better than EVO catalyst

Cons
I'd like a center / middle support (no holes inside).
After coming back to the catalyst EVO, i realize how much i missed the full feet support (and especially the length).
Pendulum are only 1 cm shorter than EVO catalyst BUT combined with a better 'surface' support, it makes quite a difference.

All in all, the 2 pedals stand in the same category of 'excellence'.
The pendulum hold the foot but lacks center support, while catalyst has better overall support, even if you dont feel so deeply connected to the bike.

My wish
ultra long pedals (13-15 cm , for full foot support) with the 'pendulum' scheme.
I guess that 'patents' will block such pedals, and it's really bad from a rider perspective.

I highly recommend the OUTLIER Pendulum (if you want to try something really special, different and incredibly good).
EVO catalyst are the natural rival of the OUTLIER, because of longer platform and better 'global' foot support (with a bit less of everyting else).

Each one has qualities that i'd like to see mixed (longer void pedals from OUTLIER ? or pendulum-like from pedaling innovations ? Patents-patents ...)

If this topic interest peoples, i'll ba happy to share / reply or to develop further.

EDIT : after a few more rides (pendulum and catalyst EVO, back to back)

If i had to rank my wishes for an E-pendulum , it would be :
- Longer platform (from 13 to 15 cm long) for bigfoot riders !
- If no center support added, extension of the front and back support (to ease foot arch support).
- Chromo version (if more strong than the super strong alloy of actual pendulum pedals) : don't care about a few grams, on E-bike !

I had a set and sold them off. Even with shorter cranks I was getting a lot of pedal strikes. But the main issue was how many times I ended up on the wrong side of the pedal when I was going off a drop or whatever.
The traction on them was insane.
Worth noting is that it lowers your whole body nearly 12mm and therefore your dropper's going to need to go down.
I would love to have a set of custom short cranks with the bearing built into the crank with Outlier pedals that were tucked in better and didn't have that big bearing pushing your feet wide, and then in a clipless one-sided format. That could be amazing.

I'm thinking of these pedals for my next bike, thanks for the review ! Did you pay custom taxes buying from outlier website ?

I ordered from France on their Website.
I paid no custom taxes (300 Can Dollars converted into 200 €)

well ... no custom taxes you said ? :ROFLMAO:
These are going to be the most expensive pedals ever

Genuine question, how did you end up on the wrong side of the pedals after drops?

Well, I said: "times I ended up on the wrong side of the pedal when I was going off a drop or whatever".

Typically, I'd get a foot off for whatever reason and then there would be a feature right after and my foot would be on the wrong side. So, I'd have to stop and verify before continuing. Sometimes I could not tell at first and would have to do a visual. It just got old.

Maybe I take my feet off too much.

I wrote an email to Outlier staff, to ensure the pedals would be sent with 'product of Canada' (because of the CETA).

Whatever, there's no reason for the customs to inflct taxes, since CETA = free trade between EU and CAN.

I hope it will end well.
