Atherton S170.E Dyf-E bike coming soon...

I'm not having a go at the likes of Atherton and other bike manufacturers here, just Avinox as it's an e-bike motor, not 'The Precious'. The whole embargo thing is ridiculous, anyone would think Avinox is being run by 8 year olds in a school playground. 🙄
Every bike manufacturer, motor maker etc all have embargos. Always have done. This isn't a new thing. Just a lot of hype around this motor. I know about two manufacturers that will use it but haven't released details yet. Embargoes

I've asked and they said they were releasing info this week.

I paid anyway. Can always cancel if it's not what I expected
This is my view also. Don’t see any downside, it really needs to big a bigger than 600w Batt for me though.

ALso they compare to bosch gen 5 with 750wh? I thought the 750wh battery was a gen 4 battery?

ah, so gen 5 motor with gen 4 battery. seems an odd mix
They probably have an Orbea wild.

From my experience running a gen 5 in turbo for a year with 600Wh and 800Wh batteries, the 600 typically gives 1200m climbing and the 800Wh gives 1600m climbing. So I would equate 1400m with a 700Wh battery...

Rumours now point to the bigger batteries for Amflow arriving later in the year or 2027, maybe Atherton had a deal with Avinox to get access to the cells earlier, or they have the ok for third party battery.

I doubt if they would have gotten them before AMflows new bike next month.

I can't see why they would have an embargo in place and Atherton can't release details of the battery, unless they are new. And surely if amflow are releasing new bikes next month, it would make sense to tie it all together with the new motor/batteries.

I guess we will see in a month's time.

Anyone any idea when we will be getting our 1st run bikes. Sea otter is not until the end of April so presumably it won’t be until after then.

Pre-orders are open now, with delivery scheduled for April and May..

can you feel the anticipation ;-)

It sounds like they have Djamolidine Abdoujaparov doing real world testing….5 hours on eco doing 2900m. That’s barely using assist so some strong legs there.

I would be very surprised if they got this batt size wrong, they must know that 600w won’t be enough for some. Bikes will already be built to customers sizes by the time spec is fully known.

They won't be. They get built after the embargo. You can still cancel for full refund after full details are announced

From what I understand. Bikes are being built before the embargo is lifted on the 16th of next month? so that when it is they can deliver bikes short time after. From what I have seen they can build one frame a day. If they wait until the embargo is lifted before building it’s going to be difficult to deliver the runs 1/2 on time that’s why I am confident that they won’t get this batt range wrong. Agree on the cancellation point.

Think that’s just for the ti A series lugged bikes. The Aluminium S bikes are quicker to manufacture.

Has everyone received their invoice from the first batch? Haven’t had mine yet…..

You might need to chase them, I received an email 29th Jan saying full payment due 28/02/26 with a link to pay 👀

I got mine the 27th, they said when I called to pay that they had a few issues and people would get an extra week or so to read and think about the field test data anyway. They seem pretty chilled about it

They pretty much said that when I called to pay, Frames will be started before, components should turn up and be ready so assembly/delivery can start when the motors come in. From speaking to my LBS the Forbidden bikes are already en-route so maybe some units have already been delivered to manufacturers?

Would have been nice if they had given the batt data. Based on my time with Anflow with 800 w batt, a 600 won’t work for me. Not spending this amount to ride everywhere in ECO mode.

Considering the embargo the information on their website is pretty generous, or just wait...

Guess mine must be second batch then. Didn’t get an invoice yet.
