Other New Specialized Ebike?

The Mavens have some serious stopping power. Obviously depends on what you are riding but I almost went over the bars on first ride not realizing how powerful they were. I assume most people buying R version aren't looking for serious downhill but just a fun trail bike so should be adequate for majority of riders. I say this coming from analog trail bike to the levo and it still feels like an absolute beast with overbuilt components but I know I don't push the limits of the bike at all.
They are also absolutely not providing any modulation and you cannot totally rely on consistency lever feel.

Also I still do not understand how people would like that much power compared to Hayes DomA4 or Hope 4V4 ... a mystery for me, maybe people over 100kg, never felt the Dom A4 lacking of power on DH bike park or else.

The 2 bikes I was shown last week. Were just another version of the Gen 4, smaller batt, different shocks. I was told the SL is being discontinued.
After riding my S Works gen 4 today with the new 850w upgrade i found it ate more battery but its power and delivery was brilliant its totally made the bike even better but i feel the 600 battery would be to small if thats whats on this new bike coming out on tuesday unless your being shuttled to the top ?
I started with 80% battery and ended with 20% on a 15 mile trail ride

That seems a lot of Batt use, did you use max power a lot. I was told that the smaller batt is a weight saving exercise.

15 miles???!

Have you tried them or just regurgitating what you’ve heard? I’ve got Mavens on all 4 of my bikes. They absolutely do provide modulation if you know how to use and set them up. I’ve had zero inconsistency problems, which is more than I can say for most other breaks I’ve used. Mavens are easily the best brakes I’ve owned, followed by the Tech 4 V4’s.

I owned a kenevo sl (in s4), and spent a day on a demo levo 4.
And have owned or tried many (many) modern acoustic enduro bikes and e-bikes. Terrain is generally black/double black southwestern alberta and southern bc, canada..
I don't mind the kenevo sl still, it was ahead of it's time. It is behind current times though, a ride on a yeti mte or even a transition relay makes that quite obvious. The longish reach, low stack, f/r ratio, and dropper position are several years behind the curve at this point. Can you still ride one fast ? Sure, but not as easily as more modern stuff.

The levo 4 might be okay for some if you had a more old school technique where you were driving the front end through your hands, but I'm firmly in the "centered" rider position camp. The 435mm chainstays and resulting long front center made it feel sluggish, and required quite a bit of weight shifting around to corner aggressively.
It's a good bike as compared to e-bikes of previous generations, but doesn't hold up well in direct comparison to the most recent crop, in my experience. Of course, that only matters if you directly compare them.
Run the chainstays in long at 446, my S5 feels great like that.

It’s like a lot lot faster than my Gen 3 was, everywhere.

Only the seatpost angle is old-fashioned, but so am I.
I've probably ridden them more over the years than the new Geo bikes. So I'm used to them.

The stack is low, but that can be fixed with a high rise bar that doesn't shorten the reach
The Expert comes with a 50mm rise bar, and the S-W comes with a 55mm rise. Even the Pro (for some reason) comes with a 40mm rise bar.

I’d try the long setting on my S4, but I don’t want to lower my BB. Too rocky here; and would only be experimenting anyway.

You can lengthen the chainstays and then flip the shock chip to raise it back up a bit, it will bring the chainstays back to 444 from 446 but extra BB clearance.

I ride the rocks too but have no issue with long and low, I think the 155 cranks help that.

I’m familiar. Perhaps if I thought I “needed” the longer chain stays I’d be more ambitious.

This was the sub-20kg lightweight Levo 4 shown at a trade show at release of the full fat
This seems to be just marketing pic

S-works weight is 23.68 according to spesh website, with 600wh battery it would be 22.68

Is that possible to drop 3 kg just by components to achieve 19.70kg? Or there is something I can't see?

My approximate counting is
tires - 400g
fork - 300g
shock - 200g
dropper - 300g
brakes with rotors - 500g
which is 1.7kg, how did they managed to drop another 1.3kg ?

Cockpit, saddle and wheels.

I don't think they would hang it up on a scales if it wasn't legit.

Is there any lighter cockpit or saddle than the ones they put on the S-Works?

Same with wheels — on the S-Works they already use the lightest available, unless they put cross-country wheels on it, but Specialized stated that this is supposed to be a trail-ready bike.

I’ve had both brakes currently in use the Hope Gr4 V4 and they are brilliant aswell
The only difference for me personally is the bite in the mavens (I find it happens faster than on the Hopes) but definitely great brakes

I guess the “R” in Levo R stands for Rally?

The thick tube has undeniable advantages, such as accommodating a removable 840+ Swatt battery or a short 600 watt battery positioned directly above the motor, centralizing the weight.
It also allows for a size S frame with good geometry.

I prioritize functionality over aesthetics; obviously, some will disagree.

The frame is different, you can see it in the shock absorber mount and the 29-inch rear end.
I don't think it's so far-fetched to maintain the same motor and battery ecosystem to facilitate the availability of compatible spare parts and components between models.
I assume it is only the rear triangle and linkage that is different.

I have seen all the R versions and I'm surprised Specialized is making a bike so close to the Levo 4 in price and components.
Sorry🤐

No arguments here from my racing child and about 50% of the UK NAtional paddock :)
