Luke.
Not really a trail dog 🐕 but loves his walks.
American Cocker Spaniel.

…and a recovery from a minor operation yesterday. Luke is almost 17.

Cone of shame for a few days.
He likes cats but hates bears.

He claims he’s a pure-bread. 🍞 He’s meditating more but can still hold the work-light steady. 👍🏻
My SIL had one of those DNA test done on her Corgi. Her dog looks like a Corgi, walked like a Corgi. It had no Corgi, it was a (I’m dead serious) deformed Shepard/Akita/mutt…..
it was sooooo funny and she loves it even more now. Ziggy thinks he’s a pure GSD but his papers were lost in a windstorm🤣

What the heck? Weird!
My daughter chose Luke from a reputable breeder for American Cocker Spaniels. He was definitely the runt of the litter but he grew up to be a perfect companion for me.

My trail buddy is 10 years old this year and still runs out front on all the climbs and most of the gentler downhills. Even at her age, she still needs at least 15km a day to keep from driving us bananas in the evenings. Border collie/German shepherd mix with a bit of Rottweiler thrown in for some bumbling goofiness.

Prickly pear cactus cuts into the day’s fun a bit: “A little help here please, Dad?”

I predict this thread could eventually beat out “Show us your ebike” for response volume!

“Cowboy”, seeks me out a few times a week. He usually scares the crap out of me while I’m doing some trail maintenance …suddenly this ball of fur shows up between my legs while wagging his tail and crying for attention.

Cowboy wins every time and settles in for a double-head-scratch. Then he starts his Zoomies up and down the trail.

His owner shows up 10-15 minutes later.

WOW 😮! Now there’s an e-bike killer. Crazy fast.
He'll cruise at 17mph, bark like Fudge if you stop. The problem is trying to get him to rest; he'll only do about 7 miles, though, because he wants to go flat out. I'm trying to persuade him to come camping in the roof tent, but he's having none of it.
