What did you buy your ebike this week?

I've got those pedals (in green) boy are they tight! I backed them up so much one pedal fell apart - easy to get back together.
but watch yourself - I left one side, one click off fully open - couldn't get out quick enough going up Spooky woods and ended up tearing the ligaments off my left index finger (I ran with Shimano Saint's for years)
Interesting? I'm not seeing that. Definitely more challenging to get into than any Shimano SPD I've ever owned. I had to use the shims as I wear 5.10 Hellcats. What I did find was the Shimano cleat works better than the OneUp cleat, so grabbed a new set of Shimano SM-51 cleats and it's much better. What I have noticed is trouble finding the binding/cleat easily. Been on Shimano's since 1991 with their original 737, so no matter what Shimano SPD I've had, I always would be able to lock in without effort and not the case with OneUps. Probably just need more time on them as I've only ridden them once. Time will tell.

I've been using the Oneup cleats with specialized 2FO shoes - I haven't had too much trouble since that off and adjusting the last side to fully slack + a bit of wear on the cleats helps - maybe I'll try the Shimano cleats; I think I have some SM-51's in the tool box
But yeah initially they were a bit of PITA to get into too, but that quickly improved - I'm looking out for matching green nail varnish now ;D (even with 160mm cranks)
I also went to SPD's in the early 90's!
 
After the Fox Float X became aerated on my one month old Fuel+ it's now off at Fox for repair. So I picked up a bargain discounted DVO Jade X Prime coil shock as an alternative. I fitted a Jade X on my Trek Rail 3 years ago because it was one of the few that didn't have clearance issues between the reservoir and downtube, and I've been very happy with it. The new Jade X Prime has high and low speed compression adjustment, so that's more sexy knobs to play with 😁 . It's the perfect complement for the Fuel+ which can be run with either 150 or 160mm rear travel. Easily done by just swapping over different spring clips to switch between 60 or 65mm stroke length on the shock. Nice!

For you weight weenies out there... the Jade X Prime with 400lb spring and spacer weighs 790g, so that's 280g more than the original Fox Float X airshock which I weighed at 510g. Worth it for the coil feel IMO. I also looked at a Rockshox Vivid Ultimate Coil shock with a (heavier) 400lb RS spring which comes in at 990g, so quite a bit heavier but you do get HBO with it if that's what you want.

Also bought it some marble red DMR Deathgrips which are sticky and comfy.

Ha ha! Not pointing any fingers, or making any personal admissions. Just including some hopefully useful info that may help some people thinking of trying a coil shock. Then again, it's just more data on the forum that Greg will probably exploit and turn into a jocular 3 page exposition on everything to do with bike suspension 😉.

Sealant should be topped up every 12 months or so. Depends how many holes have been plugged.

It does dry out eventually inside the tire.

Yeah it’s been 12 months since I last topped up.
Got 4 so I can cover myself for the next year or two.

I know nothing about these shocks, a bit of user feedback about how well and how they work would be appreciated.
I'm pretty sure it is just a marketing thing, the name. I can't see any shock working in a non inline fashion.

@irie I see you are from Chichester, mind if I send a PM? Wife and I are trying to plan a visit to the Goodwood Revival, and have never been down your way.

inline or non-inline with the non-inline having a piggyback reservoir 🤷‍♂️

oviously the inline is usable in smaller spaces but also has design compromises to fit inside the available space:unsure:


I have a few Mara's & can tell you that they operate at lower air pressures than other makes(y)

During the Goodwood Revival the road traffic is horrendous, everything comes to a halt. We used to go but it's become a corporate event that we now keep well away from.

Here's a pic from 2014 (my wife is on the right with the handbag) when we were allowed to wander around the aircraft. No longer.

Fabulous! I'm sure, like most events I've gone to, nothing compares to the excitement of the first few times you go, and as the years go on, the magic fades, and you see the underbelly of them being more and more corporate.

I used to go to Sea Otter Classic every year, camped all weekend, was always excited to go, then after a bit, I would go for a day, then stopped. And, it is only 2 hours away.

And, it was definitely the uniform!
 
plase share your thoughts on this, I'e a few mara pro's and rate them but I've not tried these newer inlines :unsure:
edit: Turns out the diameter of inlines king can is too big to fit my 24" rise H30. Im SO F'd right now..

Turns out i had tried to fit it wrong. Fits. Just got done with the initial susp set up/balancing.

lack of or including an external resevoir...
