Avinox M2 SL

I see guys on emtb's stopping on climbs because they're sucking wind, so there's certainly a market for more power but for me, I'm already detuned about 30% from stock settings. Which I think is where most people would land.
Yeah I think even my most powerful settings are around 30% less with some way less.

Eco mode is like 150w and 20nm 😂

The batteries aren't changing until 2027 I've been told, there's 2 new motors, both more powerful than the M1. And, 3 new screens, at different tiers with different features. Bottom tier is display only, not touchscreen.

That's the most legit sounding rumors that I've heard yet.

As others have mentioned, I don't care about more power. But a denser battery does excite me.

These are my settings, I think i've dropped Auto a little since too:

Sounds accurate . The battery pack on the avinox motors is already tight . There is no new cell tech currently that could change the ongoing format so more watts require more space . Since these batteries are long and designed for thin tubes I honestly doubt without a major change , battery will remain the same . Any motor can be downturned for sure but 1.3 KW is a gimmick to be honest

Sorry bro, but that's where you're wrong.
There is quite some talk about new cells for new Amflow battery packs.

I can inform you there are commercially available(since dec25) new high capacity cells that are only slightly heavier and a bit shorter than the ones currently used by Amflow - The 5,5Ah LG M58T cells(273Wh/kg), 73g.

Molicel and FEB produce the new cells.

Molicel has two P60B and P60C new 6Ah cells(288Wh/kg), 75g especially made for the use in e-mobililty applications.

The P60B cell is 0,1mm thiner and 0,6mm shorter than the LG so the housing can stay the same.
The weight difference between them is only 2g. The 800Wh pack has 40 cells. That equals to a 80g difference if a new pack would be built with these cells.

Then there is the Molicel M65A.
It's a 6,5Ah cell(322Wh/kg) with 74,5g even a bit lighter than the other two. It's 0,2mm thicker and 0,5mm shorter.
So again the housing stays basically the same and a whole pack gains only 60g.

Conclusion:

650Wh or 700Wh of the same size and cca 60g weight gain of the current 600Wh is possible.

Also an 860Wh or 930Wh of the same size and cca 80g weight gain of the current 800Wh is possible.

Hope this helps ✌️

Can I ask if they kept the capacity at 600w and 800w what would be the weight reduction?

The current batteries are structured 10S3P (600) and 10S4P (800), which would increase their capacity to 654 or 709 Wh and 872 or 945 Wh, respectively.
In a hypothetical, but impossible, battery that maintained the same capacity, with the same weight of casing, wiring, etc., the 600wh would go from 2.87 kg to 2.75 or 2.53kg and the 800wh from 3.74kg to 3.58 or 3.29kg.
In the CEF69 frame threas is it now possible to purchase a 48v 835wh and 3.5kg battery? Perhaps it comes with a carbon casing that is not approved in Europe or the USA?

In the latest motor comparison test conducted by E-Mountainbike Magazine, the Bosch CX motor achieved a range of 1,999 vertical metres and the DJI Avinox 1,953 metres. Both systems were equipped with an 800 WH battery. According to this test, their efficiency is practically identical!

Like @Imanol said, it's not possible to keep the 600 and 800 and reduce weight in real life.

The best combo capacity/weight wise with the new cells IMO would be the mentioned cca 700Wh pack. As it would need be built with the M65A cell, it would most probably be a seriously capable battery pack. This cell has some serious specs when it comes to discharge current limits.

There is room for improvement with the pack casing material where a magnesium alloy would save cca 30%. But the price of magnesium alloys does not payout economically, so most probably not to be expected. ✌️

It sounds like Atherton is likely referencing the new 700wh battery (at nearly the old 600w weight) being the battery pack they are going with in their new e-bike?

Also, that would require a sooner release.

who says they are going with a stock battery and not with a custom one? imho they need a different battery that fits in a round tube. they would not be the first company with a custom avinox compatible battery, Rotwild went the same route so avinox is already open to that.

@Zimmerframe and I had a good conversation about the possible Atherton battery pack in the Atherton emtb thread...laid down some measurements etc...and we came to some conclusions there. A 10S3P configuration, so 700Wh with new 6,5Ah cells is tottaly possible in their cylindrical downtube. ✌️
Sooner release- That is why my bet for the 2026 Amflow reveal is on the "Taipei Cycle 2026" (25th - 28th March)

Atherton release is in April

I forgot about the Taipei trade show, that would make a lot of sense for the release date. With so many brands releasing Amflow bikes this year, more chance of the specs leaking.

Just a month and half away…

Will there be an official list by DJI which brands will adopt the new models?

Does anyone know why the M1 is still mostly limited to MTB bikes? Yeah, it's overkill for a city/trekking bike but it seems that everyone would love to have an Avinox and 'too much demand' has usually never been a bad thing from a business perspective... In Europe, especially Germany it's only the Revo-C by Velo de Ville (looks quite goofy) and the Steppenwolf Transterra. Why does is take so long for Cubes, Riese&Müller, KTM, Kalkhoff and others to implement the Avinox rather than another uninspiring Bosch engine...? Are they contract bound?
I would like to be able to buy a trekking bike with the M1/2 motor and Rohloff gearing.

They all invested and built Bosch based bikes in 2024-2025 and still have thousands of unsold bikes that they need to shift in a marketplace where the best bikes from Trek or Orbea are going for -50% off, and random brands are offering well specced avinox builds for 6k...

Amflow will offer an urban bike equipped with a DJI motor; be patient, it's coming soon! Cube always presents its new products in September… And in September 2026, Cube will also launch its own bike equipped with a DJI motor.

The M1 is the only version currently.

Incoming M2 will be a lower tier, like what Shimano did with EP6 and EP801.
Found this.... the M2 by all accounts is an "upgrade" and advancement to the M1. Better efficiency, more power and quieter. I really can't see why Forbidden would opt for a lesser motor in their next generation e-Druid. And I'm hearing the Forbidden e-Dreadnought will run the M2.... why would Avinox go backwards??

He's talking nonsense, I saw the brochure with the new Druids and they will be equipped with the latest and most powerful Avinox engine!

Totally agree. Had to turn mine down to get better engagement with the bike

How do you know about Cube? Cube/Canyon emtb with Dji would be my pick…

I highly doubt that Cube, being German, would betray Bosch and put an Avinox motor on its bikes. I would be very surprised.

For me, there are two very strong German brands, Focus and Cube. If they end up using Avinox, Bosch will be super betrayed.

Business is business. Also, you have no idea if and by how much Bosch might be turning the screws on Focus and Cube, creating some animosity. This could be an opportunity for Focus and Cube to turn the tables. Or Focus and Cube could just be toying with Bosch to get a better deal. We don't really know. All businesses should act in their own long term best interests.

Cube and Bosch are like symbionts, it's really complicated. There's a bike shop here that only sells Cube and they hate Avinox, and according to them, Cube will never carry it.

If Cube released something with Avinox, it would be a hit. But I have a feeling they're going to wait for the Bosch Gen6 in 2027.
