Hey guys. I’ve got a pl carbon with factory wheels that I want to mullet. Found a good deal on marketplace on a Raceface 27.5, 12x148 boosted wheel that’s compatible with an xd driver. I searched online and thought this was what I needed. Well needless to say my current driver doesn’t fit the raceface wheel.

At this point I’m not sure how to make this work. Just buy an xd driver and if so, will my factory cassette work with that?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

It's not clear what you're asking here. Is your new wheel "compatible with an XD driver", or does it *have* an XD driver? If it has XD, then one option is to simply upgrade your cassette to the XS-1275 or higher, assuming T-Type.

The 2026 (T-Type) non-pro Amflow uses an HG driver as shown below. Drivers only fit the specific hubs they fit so you'd need to figure out exactly what hub your Raceface wheel has and find the exact right HG driver to fit it. Luckily HG drivers are quite common and RaceFace is a common brand so you may be able to find one easily enough.

The raceface wheel currently doesn’t not have a driver but I believe is xd compatible. Here’s what is on the box.

Do I need to buy a hg driver that will work with this hub?

Wheels usually include the driver and "XD" on the label indicates that it originally included an XD driver. If the driver is missing, then your easiest option would be to source an HG driver that is compatible with that exact Raceface wheel hub.

Ok. What’s weird is that when I reverse searched a pic of the hub it says it’s a trace hub but all of the reviews of this wheel set say it has j pull spokes but this definitely has straight pull.

Thank you very much for the info. I feel like an idiot that I can’t grasp this.

Take your wheel to your local shop, they will help you. It pays to support your local business.

Yeah, drivers are confusing because there are not many standards on the hub side, and the interface is seldom described anyway. The cassette side is better but still pretty obtuse - for example, there is no SRAM driver that is compatible with your SRAM 12-speed cassette, you need to use a Shimano driver and it has to be an "11-speed" version, not 12-speed.

Anyway, this is likely the driver you need but since it specifically says "J-bend" it'd be wise to check with Raceface before ordering: Cassette Body - Trace J Bend | MTB | Race Face

Yeah I’m planning to stop by there today. I was trying to get some info so I don’t look so dumb. Lol

Awesome, thanks for the help. Like I replied to the other guy, I’m still gonna go by my lbs today just to make sure.

Absolutely, I'm just going by the part number on the box so I'm assuming that is the wheel you actually got. Best to verify.

What’s your transmission, Shimano or SRAM? If it’s Sram then they make the NX which is an HG 12 speed cassette. The problem is, in this day & age it’s much more difficult to intermix brands as the chain lines between the two differs slightly providing an adverse outcome resulting in not very clean gear shifts.

I’ve got the stock SRAM 12 speed cassette and I changed the derailleur to the SRAM GX to get the wireless shifting. I took the stock wheel and the 27.5 wheel to the bike shop and asked them about it. I’ve know the owner for about 20 years. He’s old school and couldn’t give me an answer off hand but said to leave it and they’d figure it out.
