Hi All. Starting a thread for the new 2026 Norco Range VLT.
I have this bike on order from my local dealer in size 4. I'm 6'3" and 200lb. I struggled deciding between the Size 4 and 5, but similar to Rob Rides post on the Norco Sight BVLT sizing, I prefer a shorter seat tube and will manage the shorter reach with a longer stem if needed.
I currently ride a 2026 Santa Cruz Bullit (GX AXS build) and while I love this bike, I have a few reasons for moving to the Norco after only one season on the Bullit:
- I ride in the Rocky Mountains in Canada with lots of elevation gain on all rides and the 600WH internal battery on the Bullit is limiting with my typical 1.5-2hr rides predominantly using EMTB+ and tour modes (both custom tuned and 100Nm software upgrade).
- I plan to use the bike year round. WInters are very cold and snowy. While I won't ride in -30 celcius, I will head out for a ride in -10/-15 celcius. The Norco can fit 27.5x3" 45Nrth Wrathchild studded tires for riding in winter.
- I have a Bosch range extender and am excited to have 1,050WH of battery (800+250 RE) for some bigger backcountry and alpine missions.
- I've ordered the lower spec Norco Range C2 build and will swap ALL my parts from the Bullit to the Range. This allows me to upgrade all the components and sell the Bullit with new everything (apart from rear shock whcih will remain).
- Photos for reference include: Norco Range from Norco website, my current winter ride - Norco Torrent, Alpine riding with my old RAAW Madonna.

I'm keen to hear from others who have seen, ridden or have the bike on order!

I'm not in the market for another bike (yet:sneaky:) but have been reading into the new Range Vlt.

what I can say is that if the new offering is anywhere near as good as my Gen2 Range Vlt then it'll be an awsome bike:cool:

Rich.

Hi Zed. Yeah I'm eagerly awaiting review content but it is slow to arrive... only a handful of Youtube videos and "launch" style posts on bike websites. I'm hoping for more first impressions videos in the coming months. Either way... the Norco Sight VLT was praised in reviews last year and this bike is the same frame as the Range.

I looked over a C1 build in my local store and it's a clean frame. Well exected and neat.

6'4" on the S4 Sight/Range VLT and it is an absolute hoot. No sizing concerns whatsoever. Literally nothing negative to say about how this bike rides. Chunk, jumps, cornering... does everything better than any previous bike (and I've had an embarrassing number of those). Somehow it's composed and playful at the same time.

Currently setup with a vivid coil at 160 out back and a fox 40 up front (190 airspring to achieve same ATC as a 170 Zeb).

Quietest bike I've owned. Dead silent down the hill.

Extremely minor annoyances are:

-Kiox display upgrade on S4 frames requires some DIY fussing to get it secured

-Charging port cover is an unintuitive pain (literally) to open

Amazing and (currently) underrated rig. You'll be stoked.

I was stoked to see the Wrathchilds on-sale and got some 29'ers for my former eMTB. I've been eyeing the Sight and was bummed that a 27.5x3.0 wouldn't fit.
I have a friend who has frankenbiked his Norco Sight VLT for winter use. He has a Manitou Mastodon Pro fork with a 27.5” 45Nrth Wrathlorde fat tire on the front and a 27.5x3” Wrathchild on the rear.

That’s fantastic to hear I’m in the same ballpark with the sizing, thanks for sharing. I saw your posts on the Sight VLT thread…. You’ve built an absolute rig! I love it!

I looked over the cable routing of the Range in my local strips and appreciated the attention to detail on the cable ports into the frame. That’s a shame about the Kiox display mod. I am sticking with the basic battery light display for now, but that’s good intel for the future.

It seems like you have pushed your bike close to DH rig with the coil and Fox 40. Was that the intent from the start, or did the bikes capability push you in that direction? I considered a coil, but chose a damper upgrade to the Vivid base shock to turn it into an ultimate for now.

Fell in love with the stability of the 40 when I tried it on my Dreadnought this past year. Don't think I'll ever not run a dual crown. Not necessarily trying for DH travel, it's more about having a solid front end that isn't going to flex and wallow under my weight and poor decision making lol.

54.7lbs with pedals (mallet DH).

Big human upgrades add ~3 lbs, so a more standard specced rig would be ~52 lbs:

-Fox 40 (+1.0 lbs vs. ZEB/38)
-Cushcore F/R (+1.0 lbs)
-Coil (+1.0 lbs vs. air)

Are you predominnatly self shuttling with this bike? What travel are you running?
I plan to stick with a Fox 38 and Vivid Air shock, but I do run a DH casing rear Kryptotal tire and Enduro supersoft front without inserts.

It's inspiring to see with your photo and the one I posted of the winter Frankenbiked Sight, just how versatile the platform is.

Yes, 100% self shuttling but I never really thought of it that way until now.

"Self shuttling" sounds a little creepy and lonely lol. Just to be clear sometimes I shuttle with a partner, often a ménage-a-trois shuttle, and every once in a while a gang shuttle. A long time ago they told me too much self shuttling would make me go blind. It is happening but fortunately at a very slow pace.

Currently actually 150 rear (waiting on long an EXT to get to 160) and 190 front.

It sounds wild, but fork is set up firm and it actually feels balanced. I'd be plenty happy with 170 up front but the 190 airspring in the 40 perfectly hits the same 586 ATC as a 170 Zeb (I dropped the crowns 3mm) so intended 63.5 HA of the Range config is maintained.

The stability and support of the 40 is unreal. If you're on team ~100kg+ you absolutely gotta try it. No question this is how the front end is supposed to feel... I'd been wallowing along wrestling single crown diving boards for far too long.

Interesting and awesome winter setup... the mastodon being 34 mm stanchion, not sure how I feel about that on a eMTB myself (190# + 50 lb bike). I'm running one on my RM Blizzard fat bike.

I guess he's trying to run a proper fat tire front (4+ in). I'd just run the conventional fork with a similar 27.5 or 29er studded tire setup as the rear? What's his summer setup?

We got a mini-BC full tech/rolls that's a hoot in the snow.

Thanks for sharing the riding videos, that roll looks quite commiting in the snow!

Yeah I agree with your comment on the Mastodon being undersized. I would also prefer to use a regular fork and run a 27.5x3 or 29x2.6 studded tire. I suppose the Matodon is tuned to perform better for winter temperatures and can accept a wider tire, but for all other metrics I'd be wanting a 38/Zeb on my 50lb+ emtb. He is in a privaliged position where he can experiment with set ups and typically swaps bikes annually.

I'm planning to use the 27.5x3" Wrathchild's as they seem to have a wider footprint and can be run at slightly lower pressures.... That's my observations from seeing others use them versus my 29x2.6" setup. I'd be curious to see how the 29x2.8" studded Terrene Cake Eater works.

LOL, yeah self shuttling does sound like a lonely pursuit!

I swing betwee 88-90kg, and I can feel the flex between a Fox 36 and 38, especially fore/aft, and while I haven't tried a dual crown in a few years, I'm comfortable that a 38mm stanchion fork tracks well enough for my riding style.

Got a demo coming soon on the new range
Thanks for sharing! I'd love to hear all the impressions. Could you givce some background....?
WHat bike are you currently on?
Riding style/terrain?
What size are you and what frame size are you trying?

Respect those snow sends! You're tougher than we are down here in CA by a longshot lol

holy crap, that's one wild Sight, or whatever it is. Range++ or something. pretty dam cool. a hitters bike. where do you ride this thing?

my custom Range C2 is scheduled for pick up on Thursday. just awaiting the wheels to arrive. i'm 6 5, 194cm, size 5/xl.
was looking very hard at the new Giant Reign e, which i currently own the 2022 model. the just released version is everything i want as a change from the current version, which is still an amazing bike, but the new one is bigger, new refined Yamaha motor, etc.

then i saw the Range and my jaw dropped, so at first, it really caught me by appearance. i'm a Norco fan, a Canadian who wants to buy a Cdn brand if possible, and had a couple of Norco's in the past, before eebs were a thing. so i immediately called my LBS and started the search.

very very few of these brought into the country, lots of the previous models still in inventories. no size 5 C1's around at all. like, none. so my Norco dealer, who is a top shelf shop all around, offered to put together an equivalent build C2 for the same price or less. so mine will be all RS Ultimate, 180 fork in red, and a silver alloy Wingman wheelset, DT350 hubs. still XT di2 shifter, compact drivetrain (9-45) cassette, mid cage shifter. 220/200 rotors, only the brakes will be stock. oneup 240 dropper. it's going to be the bomb, and i'm pretty much vibrating with excitement waiting for it. i'll defintely post a couple photos.

🤘 that build sounds epic and great to hear the store is hooking you up. Please do post photos, ride impressions etc when you have them.

What made you go for the 180mm fork? I’m tempted to bump up the travel, but I’m a sucker for the steepest seat tube angle I can get, so will be keeping it at 170mm to preserve the geometry for now.

IMO the C2 frame colours looks much better than the C1. I’m personally not a fan of a white bike.

Good for you for buying Canadian. I’m making that same choice and also chose to spend my money at my local bike shop.

i have a 180 on the Reign now and there's that extra security (which could be placebo) with the 180 or idea that it has some bigger hit ability, or something. also, high front is good for me and my style and for steep trails. it's only because it's a custom build that i'm getting 180, i would probably be fine with 170 as they come.

Yeah, the extra travel will acount for some safety margin. I typically make a high front end with a high rise bar. Currently riding a 70mm rise Renthal bars on my SC Bullit and will likely move these or a OneUp 50mm rise bar on to the Range

Canadians should feel very proud of yourselves at this moment. Y'all have healthcare, good leadership, and make sick bikes.

At least I've got a norco and a forbidden in the stable lol.

Re. longer stem to mitigate reach, I went down that rabbit hole and concluded that stem length is much more important to dial in for cornering feel than ergo.

Have had the best luck with a stem length similar to the fork offset. Too short made the front not want to hook up in corners. Too long felt not good in different ways I am struggling to remember. Matching fork offset was Goldilocks.

Ah that's great intel. I typically gravitate towards 40-42mm stems and this is propoably why!
I plan to slam the stem on the frame to maintain reach and use tall riser bars to get the stack I like. Photo for reference...
