This is play on the the Anyone miss their old non Emtb?? thread. In this case, I think the EMTB timeline arc is old enough that maybe some folks may look back to the days of prior owned EMTBs they no longer have; have broken down, or otherwise parted with. Looking for those harking back with fondness rather than riddance, though all takers are welcome. My sense is that EMTBS as a category will more likely succumb to obsolescence, and hence age in the minds of prior owners more than the MTB space. I still ride my 25 year old bikes occasionally, though I really doubt that will extend to EMTBS. That said, I'm cleaving to the fondness side at the moment because my prior EMTB rigs were stolen in 2024 and I do miss them: A Pole Voima and a 2nd Gen Levo.

My first eMTB was a Husky Mountain Cross, and I loved how it fit me. However, I didn't want to worry about the Shimano motor breaking outside of warranty, so I'm on a Rocky Mountain now. Yeah, I still definitely miss the Husky, even though I love the Rocky.

My older eMTB is a 2020 Fathom—an honest, hardworking front-suspension bike that’s carried me through plenty of enduro trails as well. For training now I ride a Cannondale Moterra Neo Carbon 2, which feels like a total powerhouse compared to the old aluminum frame.
These days the Fathom handles city duty, mostly getting me to work or taking care of light shopping runs, although I’ll still put it to tougher use when I organize rides with friends who don’t have an e-bike. In those cases, as a courtesy to my guests, I lend out the more capable Moterra.

No, but it does kinda blow my mind that in 2018 I had a Commencal meta power with good geo, alloy frame, 70Nm motor and 500Wh battery, yet it only weighed 22.5kg and could probably have been built up to 21kg range with trail spec parts!

First and previous emtb was a Focus Jam2 9.6 NINE (carbon framed 29er). It was a stunning blue colour. Focus called it blue but it was a perfect match for Peugot's Aegean blue metallic. 150mm fork, 140mm shock. The motor was a Shimano e8000 (70Nm) and it was the ride feel delivered by the motor that convinced me to get that bike rather than any of the others I had tested. The in-frame battery was only 378W-hrs, so I bought the Tec pack which gave me another 378W-hr.
With my heavier tyres, heavier grips, plus pedals it only weighed 20.4kg. The TEC pack weighed 2.2kg, so if I fitted it, the 756W-hr battery would last all day and still only weigh 22.6kg. I loved that bike and I only sold it because I hated the way the TEC pack looked when using it. I sold it during the pandemic and I got a really great price for the bike and TEC pack. But I would not want it back.

Slightly.... but by GOD it irritated me. It was a Gen2 Orbea Rise.. but came with the EP6RS motor and the 3 point linkage, which creaked and groaned all day every day. It was soon swapped to a 2 piece linkage which was less creaky, but still creaky.. If i got 3 rides without noise i'd be impressed.

But at the moment there's times where i'd like the Eeb power, more over winter than summer as i see how my mate cruises through sections i struggle with due to traction/mud/etc. So i miss it... but not enough to buy a Rise again.

Nope. Had a KTM Macina, then a Pivot Shuttle, then an Orbea Rise, then a Gen 3 Levo, and now an Amflow PL Pro. The Amflow is by far the best of the bunch in every respect - handling, power, even price.

Nope, onward and upward.
“ To infinity and BEYOND “! 😉

I ventured into the EMTB market in late 2019 with a 2020 Trek Rail. I experienced the name calling and side-eye looks for a few years. Some were good but most were not. I didn’t have the energy to explain my choice so instead I just said “F-OFF”. (When appropriate).

I use that Trek Rail 60-70% of the time. It’s a tank…but fitted with as many carbon components possible and its capable of handling almost anything. I can’t part with that bike.

Now half the riders on this mountain have, or use, an EMTB.

You were ahead of the curve, a trendsetter, a guiding light, forward thinker, you were innovative, the cutting edge, a trailblazer, you were the leading edge in your neck of the woods, avante garde, .... a right smart arse.... :)

I miss the colours, the compliments from fellow riders and the ride from it.
I don't miss the power (lack of) or the range.

I had a Haibike FullSeven and loved it, i guess mainly because it was my first E-Bike. It had 120/120 travel and after i found out that i Love Mountainbiking, i Put a 160mm Yari in and a longer Shock to equal the Front. Though some will be scared and think this it not possible, it worked.

Unfortunately i didn't believe the lbs (he recommended me size L ) and though it was great on trails, M was too small for Bike Parks, so I sold it....

I miss my good old canyon spectralon 2018 so bad. I remind riding its old batteries to exaustion, how I could climb 1600 m on two 80% remaining power… well, last time I did ride it was …. last sunday.

If that was the case then more riders would be wear bunny slippers, neon green shoelaces, cat-frame glasses and a super hero cape.😉

Now I get questioned about my magnetic peddles. 😥

I sold my first emtb ('24 Cannondale Moterra Neo3 with Bosch gen 4) a month ago & regret it. While it was 60 lbs, it was reliable AF, pretty easy to pedal with no assist and just a fun, comfortable ride in, seemingly, any conditions. The fact that it was about $3800 new was pretty nice, too.
In hindsight, wish I had held into that and sold my specialized Gen 4 Turbo Levo Comp (the pink one), which, in my current lineup, is my least favorite (like it, but don't "love" it)... and most expensive. My others are a brand-new Amflow Carbon PL (not the pro) with Ohlins coil and a '25 orbea wild with Bosch Gen 5.
First world problems

Same here. Magpeds? If so which model?
Magpeds were the brand I tried. (Still have them) . 4 years ago I switched to Averey Hustle for both EMTBs. The magnetic articulates and the shoe platform seems slightly smaller.

I have the metal spd’s on all my Mtb footwear. They feel like a go-between for the regular platform or clipless pedal but absolutely necessary for my left foot placement.

Finding the pedal is easy now when a sudden disengagement happens. There’s a slight audible click/snap and I don’t have to stop any progress while riding. Re-engagement is easy and quick now.
I posted a brief history of my experience with magnetic peddles somewhere on these forums. (search?)

Edit; Now I’m known as “that guy with magnetic peddles”. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Do you end each ride with old chain links and sundry metal crap stuck to your pedals?
Hey! Don’t laugh 😆. My peddles collect and attract coins lost on the trails👍🏻. Soon I’ll be upgrading to the latest bear-bell.

A medium sized frying pan would be nice though. These magnets are strong 💪.
