For what it’s worth I’ve had a Whyte E 150 RS new since in 2020 and I’ve ridden the arse off it. It’s been a great bike and long may it continue to be so.

just not sure on this bike company really? some horrendous reviews, but also 3k flat, everywhere else is 3.5/4k

has anybody dealt with this company before??
Many times and would do so again - have always been excellent.

They did go through a weird period where they were using Amazon Logistics for deliveries, which was utterly awful, but every problem caused by AL was rectified by Winstanleys with the minimum of fuss.

Certainly no hesitation recommending them.

Where are you seeing these reviews? Think most recent Whyte bikes have been generally well received.

Or are you referring to the retailer?

Thing about online reviews - very few people bother to write that they bought something & it turned up and everything was fine Every village idiot going though can't wait to roast whatever retailer they used when a box arrives a day late. It pays to develop a sense of perspective & treat reviews with scepticism either way. Angry punters, paid shils, they're all out there beavering away at their keyboards.

As for Winstanley, they've been around forever which short of looking up their accounts on companies house, which you could do, is about all you need to know. They are the DFS of bike shops though, judging by the endless WE'RE HAVNG A SALE emails I get from them three times a week.

Winstanley’s are a discounted box shifter type operation, and nothing wrong with that if they have what you want.

I’ve never purchased a bike from them, but plenty of other stuff and never had a problem with the service or delivery.

Bought my last bike from them mail order. First bike had frame damage (*which having seen how dpd manhandled the bike box when I did the return became a bit less surprising), anyway, replacement sent, couple Of minor issues, but bolt needed arrived next day with amazon, great phone support when I was an eejit customer, they get the thumbs up /will use again from me. The only issue (and note that this will be the same with all mail orders) is that it might be easier to pay a local dealer to do warranty work than do the post return thing. (Having seen dpd in action I’ll probably be paying locally)

Bought 2 bikes in person and quite a few bits and bats online.
Always found them more than helpful and that Kado is a bargain.👍

I've used them for over 20 years with no issue, although that's always been for parts as opposed to a whole bike.

That being said, if they had a bike I wanted at a price I liked then I'd certainly be happy to go for it.

No problems with Winstanley over the last 12 years. I don't buy a lot from them, but if they had the right item and price combo then I would buy from them without any worries at all. Clothing and parts normally, never bought a bike from them.

I've bought 3-4 whole bikes back in the day, Whyte T-130, T-130, G-160 and something i forget now.... But no issues.
They're rarely on my buy list but that's because their prices are not usually the best. If they were, there's no reason i wouldn't use them

their prices are not usually the best
I'd say that's largely true. They are adept at promotion & all the box shifters put on decent deals once in a while but I don't generally find them all that competitive. That Kado is rellatively low spec for example but still falls into bargain territory for me.

I live in Cornwall and i purchased a 160 s July 24 only had a couple of small issues an they have been brilliant with the Warranty for me they replaced the couple of parts and sent them for me to fit

hiya all, is this a good deal for this bike?

That’s a cracking deal for that bike
and if I hadn’t blew £6k on a crazy impulsive/just HAD to have mid power emtb purchase last summer I would bite their hands off for that Whyte.
As for Winstanleys they have been exceptional with me.
Can’t recommend them enough!

Are you sure that you are the undecided?

Winstanley's is a legit company and that's a good price. I demoed that bike at FoD and it generally handled well - very stable in corners and climbs due to the low BB and long chainstay - but felt heavy (even with 600wh battery) and the lack of suspension adjustment and weak brakes let it down. But if you're a light/steady rider, or willing to upgrade parts, it's a decent option. It will always be heavy due to the full alu frame but if that doesn't bother you then go for it. Might be worth going for the higher spec options with carbon frame and bigger battery, if you can get a good deal.

100% buy it, basic kit,but upgrade as stuff wears out, i have an earlier version RS 150 , done over 9000 miles on it ,2nd battery ,3rd motor, but the frame etc are bomber tough. When you get it put a small mudguard on the rear to double the life of the bearings.it is heavy though but the weight disappears when riding, brilliant cornering.
as for winstanleys, they are fine, used them on and off for years. I just bought an Amflow! and that is amazing!
