Hi all,

I had to send my new (15 miles ridden) stereo hybrid race 140 back to the dealer due to the motor suddenly displaying it isn’t working. And I obviously didn’t tighten the handlebars enough to the top tube when packing and so the dealer (upon request) has shown me a small scratch on the top tube next to the ‘race’ as shown below. I’d like to obviously fix that when I get it back. Any advice on touching up or polishing out small scratches like this or am I being too sensitive 😂

I remember my first scratch …and second …and third.

Apparently Trek has a paint touch up kit available. I use finger nail paint. Most pharmacies have a decent variety for a close-enough match.

Ive just put on a frame protection on my top tube as I have a habit of wearing my top tube with my knees which looks bad but the rest are meh whatever

I just installed a Ride Wrap film protection kit on my new Levo Gen4. I've never used a kit before but I was impressed with the RW kit. It appears to be a thick film that's cut very accurately to fit the Levo Alloy frame. It self heals too, which sounds good also. I got the matte kit for my matte gunmetal frame and a gloss film kit for my Fox Factory 38 fork. I'm very pleased with both kits. The matte film might look better than the raw matte frame color 😁

I hate scratches too... it's much easier to replace the film than repair the paint. That's my thinking.

too sensitive ,it’s a mountain bike. It’s supposed to have scratches… so that you can lie about how you got them.

Cube sell touch up paint for most of their bikes released since 2022.

I feel your pain! After spending many months wages on a bike for display in your living room (and in your bedroom at night), I too would be upset if it got a tiny scratch that only I could see. I speak from experience, the only safe place to ride it is in the house on plush carpet - whatever you do, don't ride it on any trails with dirt and rocks! In the future, hire a professional who has extensive experience with tools and with bicycle shipping - your mental health will thank me.

Sorry, I don't mean to upset you although I see several imperfections in the paint. I feel your pain even more.

Clear top tube protection tape will mask over it and protect it too,as when you are straddling the bike when stationary your gonads rub on the top tube! 😜

Wouldnt bother,thats a sticker!

I never bothered applying wrap to the Rail 9.7. After gathering numerous scratches and paint chipping …I wish I had. Oh well. Now, each one is a badge of honour/shame/achievement. I could write a book.

I did apply wrap to the Fuel EXE. So I have extra black and gray finger nail paint. 🤪

Irony and sarcasm 👍🏻. You’re obviously British, so when did you move to Colorado?

I have some posca paint markers that I use to fill in scratches, colour doesn't always match though.

I'm not too fussy with bike wrapping, but I do always put a big strip over the top of the top tube, back of the seattube and the chainstays as those areas take a beating.

Also most often the first scratch is almost a relief, now you can ride the bike with reckless abandon...

It’s New… that feeling will soon wear off.. we have All been there….
It’s a Mountainbike bike… oh, Sorry , e-bike..
